Joe Madigan's "Retro Radio" expands to Saturdays

Joe Madigan a recent grad of John Carrol University is still spinning the WIXY 45 RPM platters on WJCU on Tuesday evenings.

Althoug his Tuesday evening program got cut back an hour to make way for a newer program,he hasn't forgot all of the oldies fans online and locally....he also will be on Saturday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:30 pm (or right after the JCU football game.)

I must also put in a plug for Joe here...he's a decent kid who wants a break in the field full time. Think back you Cleveland radio people out there who first started out okay? He doesn't do drugs,or womanize or sell crack...he prefers to stay as local as possible...and get out of that boring supermarket job he went back to for good. Like my son who graduated from culinary school this past spring....he told me "you gotta use it(the degree) or lose it!"

I met this kid when he interned at WULM in Springfield at the time I voiced some liners for that station during it's "Rock N' Soul" oldies format a few years ago...you couldn't find a more decent individual than Joe.

I 100% agree. I knew Joe for several years, and even visited the studio when he was on the air several times. Can't find a nicer guy, with a great personality. He's solid on stuff like the history of rock'n' roll, extremely knowlegeble on the 60's (as well as the 50's and 70's) music he plays (as well as the culture). He knows the history of Cleveland's Top 40 radio, and can perfectly match up what he's playing to whatever station had the biggest hit if it was a "regional" tune, whether WHK, KYW/WKYC, WIXY, or even the legendary Big 8, CKLW in Windsor/Detroit. That's incredible for a college-aged graduate! I'm in my 50's, and I grew up with those stations and tunes, and always had the radio on, and he has taught me quite a few things I didn't even know. I'm sure Joe is just as knowledgeable on many other fronts also, and he was (is still?) Station Manager of WJCU radio, and the campus TV station.

If there's any radio station managers/scouts out there, please give Joe Madigan some real consideration.
