This market is blessed with excellent talent in the sports broadcast booths. Peckham and Taylor, Mishkin, Dewayne Staats, and Joe Magrane. Magrane, as you know, is leaving to join the MLB network. The work he and Staats did to make Rays games entertaining all through those years of losing was masterful. Magrane brought a great knowledge of the game along with a wry sense of humor. Joe Magrane is in a league of his own.

Joe did a great job for the Rays and is indeed ready to move on to a bigger challenge. The big difference in his new job is that it's going to be much more difficult to bring the insight to national broadcasts covering so many more teams. After covering 150+ games for 11 seasons, he knew everything there was to know about the Rays and could concentrate his show prep on the opposing team. It's going to be a different challenge. Joe paid his dues and I wish him the best.

Stats is HORRIBLE. Can't believe you can say he's ANY good.

ooops....forgot to mention Gene Deckerhoff in the list. When Deckerhoff does a radio play by play, you can actually see the action in your mind.
