Joe Mathieu no longer anchoring GBH morning news

It appears that former BZ Radio Anchor Joe Mathieu is now with Bloomberg. The GBH careers page has a listing for a new morning anchor. BTW Emily Rooney and Beat the Press are still on the TV programs page.

over with Kim Carrigan and a bunch of other has beens

Bloomberg must have deep pockets because I can't see how their radio operations make any money

either that or people are working for next to nothing.

The radio station is part of the Bloomberg image of financial news through all media channels. As such, from what I have heard, radio is mostly a package with all the other Bloomberg offerings.

And, on top of that, the station gives additional top of mind awareness to the Bloomberg name.

Years ago I was at AM 1430 when the format switched for about 6 weeks from MOL to Bloomberg. The product has improved dramatically. I actually like the afternoon show. Later I called on the network while at a different job. I was told then that the Bloomberg Box was the cash cow that subsidized all the other products. I met Michael Bloomberg on two occasions. As a teen we would hope the fence of the Temple Shalom in Medford and spend hours in the pool behind the Temple. The pool was mainly used by the summer day camp.. Bloombergs mother was the President of the Congregation. I told Mayor Bloomberg that story and he said "Well I am glad someone got some use out that pool do you what that pool cost to insure.

Never fully understood his reason for leaving WBZ in 2017, shortly after it was announced that CBS was spinning off its radio properties. At that particular time, iHeart was not in the picture - at least publicly - but there was talk that Entercom would not be able to hold on to WBZ because of revenue caps. Names like Hubbard and Bonneville were floating around but nothing stuck until in late summer / early fall it was announced that iHeart was acquiring WBZ-AM, WZLX, and 97.7 FM. I like Joe Mathieu and Josh Binswanger, but I'm not sure 'BZ has any time slots available for either of them right now.

No, not with the in" incredible talent" they have mow

Just looked at the list of hosts on Bloomberg Radio & TV on their website; neither Joe Mathieu or Kim Carrigan are listed.

I just googled both Kim & Joe. Kim’s LinkedIn bio has Bloomberg radio as her current position. I’m out of range to listen now that I no longer work in metrowest. I’ll listen to the stream sometime this week to verify.

As for Joe, according to this article from June, Bloomberg hired him as they’re Washington correspondent.

If I recall, weren't you the one that said that iHeart was going to cut everything, all local talent and localnews and fill it up with syndicated shows?

Or are you just the radiodiscussions resident curmudgeon?

That's exactly what they planned to do, before some local activists help prevent it from happening
It still may happen

I’m listening online now to Bloomberg radio. The local station breaks away from the national feed for Baystate Business from 2-5 with Boston Bureau Chief Tom Moroney along with news anchors Joe Shortsleeve, Kim Carrigan, Janet Wu, and Anne Mostue contributing.

Bloomberg Baystate Business - Bloomberg

They also announced that Sound On with Joe Mathieu will follow at 5.

Very much so with the exodus and firings of the on air talent , only to hire the no talent they have now.
Norm,

I usually tend to agree with you, but, with all due respect, I'm going to have to back away this time. I believe WBZ has considerable talent in Jeff Brown, Laurie Kirby, Ben Parker, Nichole Davis, Susanne Sausville (sp?), Shari Small, Madison Rogers, Charlie Bergeron, Tina Gao. Still, I'd like to see timeslots for both Joe Matthieu and Josh Binswanger. And I haven't even included their cadre of reporters who are not anchors.
