Joe McConnell retiring as Purdue Football voice

Tomorrow is the end of the line for Joe McConnell. He has been the voice of Purdue for 15 years if my math is right. He previously served as voice of the Colts and Pacers.

He began to work in radio in the 1960s.

Joe's had a great career, going back to his years with the White Sox and Bears in the '80s, along with many other MLB, NFL, and NBA teams over the last 40 years. He'll be missed.

Joe Called Pacers games in the Early 70's and called the Colts Games on WNDE/WFBQ During the first Time the Colts games left WIBC in the 91, 92 and 93 Seasons. Joe called the NBA Finals for NBA Radio before ESPN Radio took the NBA National Radio Broadcasts. and after the Colts games and the first few years he was with the Purdue Football broadcasts did the Tennessee Titans games on Radio as well

Joe hasnt worked for the Colts Radio since the 3 years WNDE/WFBQ had the Games in the Early 90's. Joe is Retiring from Broadcasting after almost near 40 Years in Broadcasting. He will sorely be missed. IU will miss Don Fischer when he Retires, Ball State Will miss Morre Mannes when he retires. I wonder who will Replace Joe in the Football booth Next year. Will Larry Clisby Slide back into doing Both Football and Mens basketball. or will they go and find someome to replace Joe outside the house.

The Purdue Sports Network virtually dedicated today's broadcast to McConnell. They were still on the air a little after 8pm Eastern (more than two hours after the game was final), essentially sharing old times.

I think Cliz will remain on basketball only, but I can't say for certain.

PT the purdue post game show is almost like the Colts post game show and usually goes for about 2 hours after the game is over on the purdue network so they can talk about the game. but today it turned more into a Joe McConnell Roast so to speak for the listeners
