Joe Needs To Be Careful

When Radio-Info took the boards down, a lot of folks went to Radio-Insight but even there, it is too quiet...possibly because radio has gotten boring? I mean let's face it, after morning drive, its automation or sat fed (rarely do you find a live night time person). One story that has been making the rounds is could talk radio be on its last leg?? Clear Channel has made some moves recently in San Fran, LA and a few other markets that makes people wonder...one FM talk station in a midwest market they flipped to country......CC is the biggest talk producer (they "own" Rush, etc) and the ratings on a lot of the shows have fallen (Look at WLS' ratings during Limbaugh's show..LS keeps slipping so much, it makes you wish they would go back to a classic musicradio format)

As to LPFMs, probably a lot of MX apps....Houston has several still outstanding. (You should see the San Fran and Los Angeles areas!!)..

I havent taken a recent look at whats happening with the 101.5 Cypress that KCYB filed against....I guess things are going ok with Pruett and company there...(especially since Jim shut down the gun store! And this radio gig is not a paying one)

Most things about radio I find interesting are when stations flip or go through big changes, stuff relating to smaller stations, etc.
Most large market stations are just boring and too syndicated/with compressed audio, too much for my liking. LOL

Small markets usually are controlled by the same large market corps..Beaumont is Market 134 last I looked..but CC and Cumeless have the majority of the signals..its crap no matter where you look....

Unfortunately, more and more the stations owned by the conglomerates all sound sterile and the same. It'd like getting the same inferior hamburger at McDonalds anywhere nationwide. Consistent mediocrity is what is sold these days.

I still love radio. I like it a lot better then Pandora. When WIFI comes to cars, I don't know how many people would actually pay for the service. Plus what about bandwidth usage? I never did really like XM. The choice of music selection was great, but I couldn't stand the audio quality.
