Joe Rosati Leaving Z100

Just thought I'd note that Joe Rosati, who has been doing late nights (10P-2A) at Z100 for the past six years, is heading to Detroit to image Clear Channel's WKQI and WDTW. Best wishes to him, he's a great talent.

For what it's worth, WKQI (Channel 955) is the station where current Now FM PD and night guy - Dom Theodore and Chunky/Big Boy, respectively - hailed from. Z100 PD spent the first part of the year doubling as KQI's PD until Michael McCoy from WNCI/Columbus was recently named to the gig.

So what does Z100 do with Rosati's old shift? I hope they move Shelley Wade up from 2-5A, as she clearly deserves at least a slightly more prominent time slot. I'd love if she returned to middays while Seacrest's show shifted to late nights (or left Z100 altogether), but there's no shot in hell of that happening.

And a "good guy" as well. There's not enough of them in this business.

Anyone know why the change? Both stations are the same company (CC), right? I'm going to guess the company wanted to move him....and this wasn't his choice.

Did they just want to eliminate a live shift (10P-2A), to replace it with tracking...and found another place for Joe?

Joe's been imaging a lot of stations freelance for awhile - he's got the studio chops.

He has a young family though - i wish him the best, but i suspect transplanting his family to Detroit, Michigan wasn't something he had in mind.

When Billy The Kidd left Z100 a few months ago (since replaced by Mo' Bounce), in the interim period Z100 lengthened the shifts by one hour after Seacrest's midday show ended at 2pm. Instead of 2-6pm it became 2-7pm; instead of 6-10pm it became 7pm -Midnight; instead of [10pm-2am & 2am-5am] it became Midnight-5am.

I'd suspect they'd do that again until they find someone to fill one of the slots, whether it's 10pm-2am or one of the other slots & then shifting the other DJ's around.

Shelley should've been kept on during the day, so that it would be Ryan 10-1, Shelley 1-4, JJ 4-7
They should do the right thing and at least shift her to 10p if that's what she wanted.

Why exactly would Z100 pay jocks for 5 hours and use them for three? Plus they would have to add a full jock shift to replace Shelley in overnights with your plan. For what reason?
