Does anyone know what happened to Joey B from Q102. One day he was just gone. I know that in the past he went away for short periods of time tosober up but he always came back. Does anyone know the story? Thanks

Q102: Afternoons
From another message board. I completely agree:
Q-102 Not that I claim to know or care any thing about Q-102, but I guess it's too much to ask that the new PM driver be any thing other than a "hip, Ryan Seacrest type".
Every male CHR jock today sounds the same. Annoying. They all think they're very hip and cool because they hear from a handful of young girls on the phones every day. Eventually they'll find out the girls are either too young or too old, or even more likely, too ugly. Finally they'll realize it's the same 15-20 girls calling over and over, and that the real listenership has already abandoned FM radio the way radio abandoned it previously.

Yes. He's good. He's one of the best jocks because he does his own thing.
But everybody else tries too hard to sound like him, Kane or Scotty Davis.

I'll remain hopeful that "The Powers That Be" will bring in someone who's got the goods. (Yes, they hired Jesse Jordan but hey, no one's perfect, ugh!!!)

Okay, I'll bite. I'm assuming you're talking about/making fun of jocks who seem to do nothing but flirt with girls on the air and hit on them. (Which agreed, isn't very entertaining in my opinion, although some PD's may want their jocks, especially night jocks, to "flirt"; Keep in mind AbacoDream, you're not an 18-34 female. At least I don't think you are. You're a radio geek in the Philadelphia area, like myself. We don't "matter". The average listener does.)
Now you said, "all CHR jocks sound the same" - I agree to a certain extent - there IS a certain sound to each format, there's no denying that. However, there are some that take different approaches from the delivery you seem to be complaining about.
Here are some more unique male CHR jocks off the top of my head, besides Kane, Scotty Davis and Kasper:
JJ Kincaid/KHKS Dallas
Paul Cubby Bryant/WHTZ NYC
Buckhead/Z100 Portland
Scotty/96-1 KISS Pittsburgh (annoyingly different, but different nonetheless)
Carson/KRBE Houston
Java Joel/last with WKSC Chicago
That's a decent start. All five of these stations stream. (not including Java) Give these guys a listen, they're a talented bunch. Who knows, maybe one of them is headed here? Well, except Cubby, doubt that.

I don't think there's anything wrong with emulating great jocks like Kane, Kasper, and Scotty... Great bits and breaks can be borrowed, as long as you put your own touch on 'em. It's the jocks that blatantly rip off and copy that piss me off.
Couple more killer CHR jocks worth checking out...
Tic Tak/WKQI Detroit (Is he missed in Philly?)
Atom Smasher/KRBE Houston (Haven't heard him in morning drive, but he sounded great in the PM!!)
Billy the Kidd/KHKS Dallas (Great night show... Lots of phoners, bits, etc.)
Tyler/KDWB Twin Cities (Sounding better than Scotty lately, IMHO)
Edit: Speaking of Kane, there's a rumor on the Tampa board about him possibly bouncing to Philly... Anyone hear anything about this?
