Joh DePetro Shout Fest - Bad Radio

Did anyone hear John DePetro this morning?
He invited Attorney Michael Garabedian on to discuss the elevation of Sean O'Malley to Cardinal in the light of the unresolved pedophile/priest and nun cases in the Archdiocese.

Eveytime Garabedian tried to answer a question by DePetro of a caller DePetro shouted over him an lowered Garabedian feed so that Garabedian could not be heard.

Really bad radio and shows that DePetro is not ready for prime time radio.

All heat and no light is only good if you are a talk show host with nothing else to offer which in John DePetro's case may be too true.

> Did anyone hear John DePetro this morning?

I only heard part of his show, when he was talking about some woman suing the post office because she tripped over packages left on her porch. Sounds like
John had a little too much "corfee" (that RI accent that sounds kinda like
the NYC one...)

It definitely was bad radio. John kept yelling at Mitchell (that's his name) Garabedian when he tried to answer every question.

Why have a guest on the show if you are just going to talk over them?

Also, Garabedian's phone line definitely was at a lower level so he couldn't be heard during Depetro's rants.

Being in the biz I listened longer than I would have as a "regular" listener. I can't imagine many people could take it for more than a couple of minutes.

LOL! Sounds like Johnny boy was on a tear today, didn't get to listen to this particular program, but, have heard him do this to other guests and/or callers, I particularly hate it when he starts screaming, "you're wrong, you're wrong" and won't give the caller anymore time, then he talks about the caller after he hangs up on said caller. He sometimes gets stuck on something and won't back down even though everyone calling disagrees with him, I think sometimes he just keeps up the nonsense to piss people off.

When he was at WHJJ, he acted like a cry baby on the air there also...talking over people, calling people dumb and stupid, and insulting them after he hangs up on them. I see nothing has changed with this guy, and it never will. What's the point of calling his show if he's going to insult every caller and guest he has?

I didn't catch the show....but know from past experience....that a few phone calls (or emails) to a GM or PD with a complaint certainly doesn't hurt? Of course, you can also use the famous: "My friends and I refuse to support your advertisers until you get this guy (aka air personality) UNDER CONTROL!"

It all comes down to dollars...or lack of 'em....doesn't it?

I thought it was "Mitchell" but DePetro kept calling him "Michael" probably to annoy him even more. Again, non professional radio but that has become WRKO's stock and trade.

Scott Allen Miller for 9 AM - Noon!! Re: Joh DePetro Shout Fest - Bad Radio

Agreed - and they shouldn't be forced on the public airwaves. There are
plenty of Boston talents who could do a fine job in the 9 AM - noon slot.

Maybe Scott Allen Miller should get the 9 AM - Noon and RKO just
broadcast Virgin Boy and Gene LaVanchy live from FOX 25 for the
morning show. A simulcast with the TV station would be an easy and
novel approach. Also, how many people leaving their homes to go to
work would rather listen to VB and Gene simulcast on the radio?

I think many.

Scott Allen Miller botched the same guest

I heard Mitchell Garabedian on the morning show on WRKO, and it left me - as many such appearnces do on that show - wishing that they took calls so someone could challenge what he was saying. The gist of his complaint was that the Church was not giving him enough money, and that he desrves more. Plus they were actually questioning his clients to see if they were even involved in abuse. Imagine! Of course, the claims went unchallenged by SAM or anyone else, as Garabedian was rushed off the air to make room for the traffic report.

Sounds like the same guest was botched twice by the station in one morning, but for opposite reasons, one under-aggressive and the other over-aggressive.

Excelent idea and send DePutrid back to Row Die Land.

Watch For News Break: Pedophile Nuns. Bad Habits for Real

Wait till the news breaks about the pedophile nuns. That is for real. They have a lot of 'bad habits' and the law is about to drop the boom on them.

Please don't. We don't want him back.
