John Batchelor show

John's once fine program has become almost mawkish lately. It's like he's become a put-on, as in , performance art. The program's lost it's affiliates and while I understand John's bent, having guests on who say things like Joe Wilson is about to be indicted by P.Fitzgerald, ruin his credibility.

This show is just another infomercial for Wall Street, The Council on Foreign Relations and The American Israeli Political Action Committee. It is just as bad and dishonest as the snake oil and scam investment commercials they run on the weekends. That’s why John won’t take any phone calls from listeners. If he did, you can bet callers would be well screened and dumped before the real facts go on the air. That whole station should be sued for FALSE ADVERTISING! Just to be fair I have problems with other stations as well, (Including WLIB), but I will keep my focus on WABC for now, as is what you posted!!

The only word I think of when the subject of John Bachelor's show comes to mind is "borring."

I listen on XM and would agree it's not as stimulating as it could be, but its better than daypart competitor Alan Colmes. And hey, if your station (not in NY, of course) wanted to steal Hannity, clearing Batchelor is a good place to start.

Do affiliates even matter? He has what, about ten? KSFO/SF runs him 3-5am, some station in rural Alabama gives him an hour... big deal. He was hired as a WABC show and since Phil Boyce doesn't care about local content, he said, "what the hell, pitch it to anyone who wants it!" And so WRKO had it, WMAL now runs it sans the 9pm hour that was originally local just for them, and that's about it.

I think the WABC late night show was at its best when it was batchelor and alexander... it seemed like a much more fun and enjoyable listening show even though there was alot of heavy political news conversations.

batchelor by himself (or with whatever guest co-host he brings in) is my sedative to sleep!

I enjoyed when B&A would fill in for Malzberg or others, around 2000. They DID take calls back then. I remember the insight all through the recount in Florida.
