John Batchelor

I've been listening to his show on weekends and it's almost become regular for me. I never heard the show on weekdays, be it solo or Batchelor and Alexander form, and don't know why ABC Radio fired him only to bring him back on weekends. Now we've got the new John Batchelor show Saturday and Sunday nights, but Citadel doesn't seem to be selling it like they have with their other hosts. Two years in he has 5 terrestrial affiliates and an XM channel. It's not a small network to laugh at though, as every affiliate is a big stick in a major market, with Boston being smallest. I'd still like to see Citadel try pushing the show harder, especially now that they've rearranged his timeslots. It was refreshing to hear a live voice on the radio a couple Saturdays ago when the healthcare bill was being voted on.

His affiliate roster is akin to that of Curtis Sliwa - another Citadel talent. I wonder if they're "pushing" the Guardian Angel's daily show as much as they are Batchelor's weekend show...

How many affiliates does he have outside of WABC?

Also, my original post isn't true anymore. John lost KFI this week in favor of local talent, but he added a new station: KNSS in Wichita, KS, which is now the smallest market (by a gigantic margin).

WABC has announced Batchelor will be heard every night 9p-1 a and there are plans to syndicate the
weeknight show. Curtis Sliwa leaves WABC after 18 yrs.
