John Batchelor

When will Cumulus pull the plug on John Batchelor?? He has perhaps the most boring shows on radio! Does he ever take phone calls from listeners?? Is the show even live?? Is John Batchelor even live??? And what is with that music??? What a waste of time and I doubt if it's making any money for Cumulus.

I always like his show. It's different, and he has interesting guests. Most callers to talk radio are idiots anyway, so why should he bother? His show is very NPR-like in delivery, with an right leaning bent. For all of the people complaining that conservative radio should be more civil, this is your show.

For as boring as John Batchelor is, I'd much rather listen to him than the sulfuric acid spewed by Michael Savage or Alex Jones. My brain cannot tolerate either of those two. Rush is good for his daypart and he's a 10x a comedian for every 1x a political force. Hannity seems tired to me. Hendrie seems a bit jagged around the edges.

I have only heard Batchelor's show a few times, but I like it. He goes in depth with his guests and always has good questions -- like he actually read their books. It reminds me of the old Larry King show (in the late 1970's) when he would interview writers of interesting books. I ended up buying more than one book after hearing King interview people.

His been displaced in a lot of markets by the pickup of Savage.

I'm not a fan of his show at all. I think with the addition of Savage he'll be going away soon.

They may kee him around if they need a fill in when they drop the CC syndicated talkers. We'll see.

Larry King took the opposite prep philosophy. He never read the books, and asked uninformed questions because the average listener that hadn't read the books would ask the same questions. In later years it became fun to make fun of his questions, but it really is a great way to interview someone.

John's show is excellent! It is in no way boring, very informative, no boring, stuttering callers, excellent guests, and insightful conversations.

It is a great show for late in the evening and exactly what people "say they want" when they want respectful conservative talk radio. No one could EVER accuse Batchelor of being mean or spiteful. He's always, always classy.

I actually like Savage, too, for different reasons, but am very concerned that his presence will spell doom for Batchelor's show, which, if it happens, would be a shame.

I am associated w/a station airing Batchelor. He's sellable. Savage absolutely is not.
