Does anyone know what happened to John Borders known as Johnny Dark at KLIF in the 1960s?

Guess he may be retired.

He owned a group of radio stations with the late Gene Ashcraft of the Texas State Networks in the 1970s, but I understand he sold them for millions.

For several years he was head of Sunburst Media, which owned among other stations KFRO-AM-FN and KYKX in Longview. Word is he sold the company's holdings in the past three years or so.

Sometime in the mid 90s, he horse-traded KDGE for KLTY and sold the remains thereafter. I don't think Sunburst even exists anymore.

I had heard, but had no confirmation, that he liquidated the Sunburst holdings, paid off his investors, and was for the most part if not completely out of broadcasting. So your mention of the possibility is the second to come around.
