JOHN BOY AND BILLY ON K-ROCK

I noticed this morning that John Boy & Billy started on K-Rock 100.3 FM out of FWB. I guess they got rid of their local show.

That's kinda sad. I think all of the Fort Walton stations have local morning shows. Some stations even play music in the morning. I can't think of any other small/mid-size market that isn't saturated with syndicated morning shows.

JB&B were on Wave 102.1 several years ago (I think it was Eagle 102.1 at the time). I don't think that lasted more than a year. Anyone know how the ratings were?

so much for getting traffic reports on k rock. (and i thought this was local)
not all fwb stations are local, 103.1 airs kid kraddick which i believe is premiere radio.

so this leaves...

92.1
93.3
96.5
97.5 (dx)
98.1 (boring)
98.5 (dx - local as i know it)
99.5
100.3 (scratch)
100.7 (scratch - kk in the morning)
101.5 (has never aired a local show up to my knowledge it felt syndicated)
102.1
103.1 (scratch)
104.7 (hometown grown flavour.. insert CBS beeps here)
105.5
106.3 (can anyone outside destin get this?)
107.3
107.9 (dx - scratch - kk in the morning)

TK 101 was always local in the morning until they sniped Lex and Terry from Rock 106.
With Lex and Terry, Rock 106, a new 6kw station, was beating the 100kw heritage TK101 in the ratings for a couple of years. TK couldn't allow this to continue, so they dumped the locals and picked up Lex and Terry.

What was the name of TK's morning show? Who hosted it? All I can remember is the pink flamingos and the "ee ee TK TK" sound bite. I still have some of those TK101 pink flamingo bumper stickers.

rock 106 had a warm analog flavour to it, also.

that was a fun station to listen to.

Don't quote me on this but wasn't TK's local morning show just called "The TK Morning Show?" I know it was hosted by Joel Sampson.. It seems to me like they ran one for a while called "The Meat Shop" but I believe that was syndicated on a couple other stations and I think THAT is what got dumped for Lex and Terry. I also recall Rock 106 carrying the Bob and Tom show back in 2004..

L&T are syndicated? sheesh!

last i heard, it was a show that was the morning flavour of "dr drew"
which i heard on tampa's 97.9 during dense fog conditions & warm moist air

The Meat Shop wasn't syndicated.

To my best recollection, here's the chronology of TK morning shows...

Late 80s-Mid 90s - Greg Golden and Jim Sanborn (local)
96ish-99ish - Ron and Ron (syndicated, dropped when one Ron couldn't stay out of rehab, also dealing with the LMA of 107.3, which had been a competitor)
99ish-01ish - TK Morning Show with Dick and Joel (Danger and Sampson)
01ish-03ish - Fish and Zeh (local, dropped when they couldn't live up to the air check)
03ish-04 - The Meat Shop with Mike (??) Bauer and Sampson (local, dropped when L&T became available
04-current - Lex and Terry
