I still am confused as to why dredging in the area has any relevance to selling the station.
It may not if he puts the WADO antenna on the WABC tower.

When New Yorkers (meaning New York City people) refer to their state, they usually call it "New York state." "New York" usually means the city. What NYC station says "New York City" rather than "New York" in its legal ID?Did he say New York CITY or New York (state)? There is a difference.
Interesting.. .from my west coast perspective, it seems the legal id should include CITY, so as not to confuse with state. NY state is afterall, officially named New York, and not New York State. When New Yorkers (meaning New York City people) refer to their state, they usually call it "New York state." Assuming he did...It may not if he puts the WADO antenna on the WABC tower.
The official name of San Francisco is "The City and County of San Francisco", though the only people who use that terminology are government officials, legislators and their staffs, attorneys and government geeks. (God, I'm starting to sound like "Charles Everett".Interesting.. .from my west coast perspective, it seems the legal id should include CITY, so as not to confuse with state. I'll try not to...but still. 🤔So don't read too much into New York CITY verses New York STATE.
There's also WBBR. Perhaps Bloomberg is making a change to 98.7 and selling the AM.
Emmis owns WEPN-FM, NOT Bloomberg. Bloomberg only owns Eleven-Three-O WBBR.
Fitting, for a big supporter of the president who promised to "drain the swamp".The catch with WADO is the dredging at its transmitter site.
Yes I know. Where did I say Bloomberg owns 98.7. What I said is they might BUY it, thus making 1130 expendable.
The way you wrote it, it sounds like Bloomberg owns it.
"Perhaps Bloomberg is making a change to 98.7"
There is no such place as "New York City", speaking strictly in a legal sense. The full name of the city is "New York", and accordingly the official community of license on file with the FCC is "New York".Interesting.. .from my west coast perspective, it seems the legal id should include CITY, so as not to confuse with state. I read it the same way as RolyPoly did and it caused some confusion for me reading through the thread. It wasn't actually until I saw his comment that I figured out what the facts were.I'm not a new poster here. I think everyone, including you, knows that I know who owns 98.7.
If they make a change, then they either have to buy it or LMA. Either way, they won't need 1130.
I would beg to differ. The official name the city is "The City of New York" That is how the city government officially calls itself. For people that live there, it's just New York. Many people who live in the "outer boroughs" call Manhattan "the City", as in, I'm going into the City on Friday night. Look at a copyright notice on any government website. I'll save you the time:There is no such place as "New York City", speaking strictly in a legal sense. But what 50kw station elsewhere is for sale and in a city he would be interested in?Did he say New York CITY or New York (state)? There is a difference.
On AM you don’t put an antenna on a tower. That is FM. On AM, the tower is the antenna. It may not if he puts the WADO antenna on the WABC tower.
He seems to like music from the past. Could the format be like WABC on Saturday night, but 24/7?Do we know what format he would want to put on this station? I'm as curious about that as what the signal would be if not more so...
This is what I'm wondering... Especially considering it sounds like he wants another AM signal. It wouldn't make too much sense for him to program it with another news/talk format that would compete w/WABC and from what I know about him, oldies doesn't seem to be out of the question. Would be real interesting to see how a format like that would do in 2024. He's certainly got the $$$s to throw at it...He seems to like music from the past.
