John Crenshaw To Cumulus

From Country Aircheck:

Radio vet John Crenshaw has been named Regional PD for Cumulus/Michigan, OM of the company's Grand Rapids cluster and PD of that cluster's Country WTNR. As Regional PD, he'll oversee the company's 32 Michigan stations outside Detroit, at least five of which are Country; that position has been vacant since Ron Harrell left the company nearly a year ago.

"When [SVP/Programming] Mike McVay introduced me to Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey at the most recent Country Radio Seminar, he invited me to join their company," says Crenshaw. "I couldn't be happier to lead the Cumulus team in Grand Rapids and across Michigan. With an on-air footprint that is second to none and a vibrant digital platform to boot, I look forward to growing our exciting, compelling, local brands for listeners and customers alike."

Adds McVay, "John-Boy is a well-known fixture in the country radio industry. He brings a wealth of experience and a management style that makes him a perfect addition to our corporate programming staff. His knowledge of the state, and of the Grand Rapids market, should be very beneficial to us. I believe that our PD’s will enjoy working with John." Crenshaw was most recently with WCOL/Columbus, OH.

Congratulations to JbC! Sorry he couldn't stay in Columbus, but this sounds like a great opportunity for someone with loads of talent and clearly one of radio's "good guys."

JbC is a great guy...an intelligent programmer and a knowledgeable broadcaster.

I certainly enjoyed working with him at WCOL, and wish him the best...
