I like your show so far. I'm not a radio industry person just a listener.
In the interest of full diclosure, I:
A. Liked Ankarlo and Knapp, They supported the troops and as a OIF veteran that's all that matters to me. I don't give a rip about egos or their schtick.
B. Didn't always agree with Ankarlo, Knapp, or Savage for that matter. I probably won't always agree with you either.
C. If you start beating a dead horse or get boring I'll just hit the button on the radio but I'll always come back since I'm a conservative and a talk radio junkie. You just do your thing brother.
D. Listened to KLIF from 5AM to Midnight or longer. Not sure with the new changes coming how much I'll listen in the future.
E. Think Savage Rocks!
F. Don't know why I posted this.

I'm in Houston...so I don't know to whom you are refering when you mention "Savage." May I safely assume that it is not the syndicated lunatic talker Michael Savage?

Thanks for checking out the show. Dallas has been nothing but a delight since Dan Bennett, and Jeff Catlin gave me the chance of my career. Like I say on the show....It may have my name on it, but this is our show...The regular people. The people who pay for everything.

No offense, but this "it's our show" nonsense has always made me want to vomit.

If it's truly their show too, then I expect you'll be splitting any bonuses you may receive AND you will no doubt let everyone sleep on your couch when all of you get fired some day.

Making listeners think they share ownership of the show sounds like a cute idea, but it inevitably leads to some believing that they should have more control of the proceedings than they do. This results in listeners feeling as if they were treated unjustly if:

1.) they don't get on
2.) they do get on, but get cut off.
3.) they hear someone not given full reign to expand upon their thoughts to their heart's content.

Plus, it sounds so.....so......corny.

Then again, I guess if I listen over the net, it'll be my show too. If so, what are we making? How long is our contract and what kind of bonus structure did you negotiate for us? How do we decide who gets to use the vacation time? If you say the "F" word on the air, are we all liable for that $300,000+ fine from the FCC?
 
That's akin to Albertson's grocers, whose ads all say, "IT'S YOUR STORE." OK, so where's my key to the front door? And why do they have a problem when I detour past the checkout counters and leave with MY groceries? ???
 
That's why Albertson's is leaving (and has left for the most part) the DFW are. Most people have walked out with "their store".;)
Yeah the "your show"is trite ,over used,etc..But it fits todays radio; unimaginative,uninspiring,homoginized and a cure a for chronic insomnia.
If the host doesn't like an opposing view point that makes more sense,loaded with undisputed facts,and the caller is articulant, they get interrupted,and cutoff. Welcome to Limbaugh-Hannity Land.
 
Pu-lease, JD. You aren't originally from this market, so we'll give you the benefit of the learning curve. Believe what you're reading here. "It's our show" is very cliche and overused in this market.

You're doing a good job here, so far. Keep it up and keep it local, as much as possible and practicle. And at least consider any reasonable advise you get from folks who know this market. A lot of folks here and in the halls of Maple Ave are rooting for you.
 
Also stop writing post about yourself, check the Nevada board there is crap like this all over it from a listener to JDW. Stop! You are in a major market act like it.

Not a big fan of JDW so far...loved Ankarlo and Beck. I guess I'll give him a little more of a chance...unless I can find Ankarlo, Beck, Hannity, or OReilly on another station or on the internet.

compared to MCfarland, who said "I'm a gen Xer I don't read books" then proceeds to be a foreign policy expert,,,JD is 1000% better....McFarland was a pizza shop manager who stupervized a bunch of illegal alien minimum wage mexicans up in utah.(that's why he bores people with the minimum wage topic so much) ..everytime there is a more articulate caller ....McFarland cuts them off....JD gives them extra time...McFarland is also a chicken hawk..who should sign up now if he is so hot on the Iraq war ...42 is now the max age.....
