John DeBella Makes A Bit Out Of Glenn Beck's Philly Bashing

In response to now-former WPHT host Glenn Beck telling listeners that Philadelphia "sucks" and is "unsafe" in the Independence Hall area, WMGK's John DeBella - probably right as I am posting this message - is walking about the area with cash sticking out of his pockets to prove Beck wrong:

DeBella also says Beck's comments were "preposterous, unpatriotic and libelous."

I bet there will be audio of DeBella's stroll tomorrow morning.

Is that loser still around. I thought Howard drove him out of the business year's ago.

Baba booie.

If you were truely a Stern fan, then you would know the whole story on when John went to WYSP (and to WPHT for awhile and then to WMGK). John was on the Stern show.

Well unfortunately Beck may have a point cause I love Philly. According to a new survey, Philly is the third least friendliest cities behind LA and NYC. Unfriendly people and crime probably go hand in hand.

The Daily News is on another rant this morning: Travel and Leisure magazine is calling Philly the third rudest city in the US. Just as wing-nut talk show hosts like to rouse the rabble with the threat of a revived "fairness doctrine," and TV has "if it bleeds it leads" and weather scares, the tabloid Daily News (a paper not seen much beyond the city limits) apparently has decided to go with rants about "Philly bashing."

You'd think after about 30 years of this kind of abuse from all different kinds of media, that Philly-dwellers would realize the problem may be them.

There are lots of great things about the city, but the people really are kind of rude and there are pretty rough sections of town (which is true of almost every city).

Again, I say: I wonder if Beck would have bashed New York for its high violence rate (higher than Philly, apparently) had he not been broadcasting from there.

It will be interesting to see how he reacts if/when his L.A. affiliate (high crime rate no. 2) drops Beck's show.
