John DePetro and WRKO/Entercom's Blatant Racism

It can be described as nothing but pure racism.
This morning following a discussion of the governor's race with Ch.7 political reporter, Andy Hiller, John DePetro made a statement that can only be described as pure racism.

DePetro defended Kerry Healey fortune because he said she only married a rich man while on the other hand the only reason Deval Patrick is a relatively successful and wealthy man is not because of his own intelligence and hard work but "do to affirmative action."
 
that's a bad statement but if you don't like WRKO's programming, switch to Air America. The Young Turks are moderate-to-liberal and perhaps more to your liking.

I think Dennis and Callahan are more visceral in their opinions... which I why I stopped listening long ago.

Did Depetro back that statement up with any facts or was it just predicated on the fact that Patrick is black? I did not hear it, so I'll have to trust you to be honest about this ;D

Since DePetro used the exact code words "Affirmative Action" one would have to come to the logical conclusion that he was speaking about African Americans.
And no, he did not back up his statement with any facts. Why would he let facts get in the way of a good racial slur.

It's kind of sad that it is more interesting to read about the many faux pas committed by the "talk station" than to actually listen to 680 am

You mean that's not true?
 
It is true that Kerry Healey made money the 'old fashioned way" - she married it. As to Deval Patrick, affirmative action if it applied in his case only goes so far. As the Kerry Healey campaign keeps telling us every few minutes - Deval Patrick is a damn good lawyer - too good to be governor. The doors may have opened for Deval Patrick but when the doors closed he proved at Milton Academy, Harvard College and Law School every bit as qualified if not more so than his fellow students. And unlike some, Deval Patrick could never be considered a "legacy"candidate because his ancestors built the place....Well, perhaps his ancestors did build some of those places or helped to create the wealth so that there could be "legacy" candidates generations down the road.

DePetro continued his racism again today. Some how he was trying to tie in the baby who was found in the trash in Roslindale to Deval Patrick. Huh?

He also concluded without a shread of evidence that the mother was an illegal alien and that is why she abandoned the baby.

There is a MAJOR difference between DePetro's/ WRKO/Entercom's Racism and that caller. DePetro is the HOST and that person was a caller. Sorry, there is NO DUMP BUTTON that applies to the host.

The Anti Black Rants Continue on WRKO/ Scooto Miller: NAACP Asking For Tapes?

"Scooto" Miller's rants which become more and more racist every day continue against the only African American candidate in the governor's race.

Hear the local NAACP is asking for tapes.
 
So the NAACP will subpoena the tapes, flag a few areas of questionable commentary, protest to the FCC the next time the license comes up for renewal. If the commission takes it seriously, Entercom will say hire an African-American for the Sunday morning 4A-5:30A shift and everyone will claim victory.

Roger C Carmel (reference a few posts above) --- this is a radio board, so indulge me for a minute, but he was the perfect H.F. Mudd in the Star Trek of the 60's.
 
Polo Ponies On Sunday

Rather than have a Sunday garden show word is that when Muffy Healey loses she will buy time on Sunday morning replacing the garden show with a live program from the Myopia Hunt Club. There Muffy will discuss everything the elite ever wanted to know about the care and grooming of polo ponies. Also, Muffy has promised to pay fair wages in the future to all her Black stable boys. Those little cast iron statues of them on her front lawn in their stable boy attire are so cute too. Shows how much Muffy cares for them.
