Defending the indefensible. John DePetro is not welcome in Boston. He did a terrible job on-air; rather than show some ingenuity he would drop to the lowest common denominator, he added nothing to this community.

Look at how dirty filthy the posting from "alfieradioguy" is; "Their" Free Speech - ya mean like some host that
doesn't allow for "independent" thoughts from callers who disagree with him? OH, we see, DePetro wants to go on the air with his monologues and not allow people to give an opposing point of view without talking loudly over them.

ALFIERADIOGUY (obviously, DePetro hisself) Your post looks like a duplicate from the R.I. board. That seems to be a violation of T.O.S. You should just put a link to it, not spam us because Mr. DePetro is (most likely) asking you to.

There are many "DePetro" bashers. Get your facts straight. I'm not one of them - we're just happy he finally got removed from the Boston airwaves. Why waste my time "bashing" someone with no talent? There are plenty of talented people to bash!

WRKO maintains my firing was based on what I said about Grace Ross. I disagree that it was a slur, and remained stunned I was let go for what I said. As far as ratings, no one can deny WRKO has had it challenges in morning drive, and it is unfair to take shots at me. A strong lead-in is not a bad thing in either TV or radio.

Maybe he'll head to another city. Michael Graham was dumped for what were termed anti-Muslim comments
by WMAL in DC and wound up here. And years ago, after Jeff Katz was dumped in LA for making fun of
Mexican immigrants, he wound up at WRKO...(it was a joke like "Taco Bell could give out prizes for
how many Mexicans you run over"...I think Darryl Gates replaced him)

For a long time, the DePetro website (done by someone else for him, I think) still had references to him being on "10 am to 2 pm on WHJJ" and there was a lot of Providence-related content. Then not long after
it was finally updated to show his work in Boston at 'RKO...he's gone.

Sometimes DePetro's show was good but the low ratings prob. helped to lead to his exit. I can't give actual
numbers but one paper said he dropped to one-half of what he once had.

Off topic, but: Katz was dumped in Sacramento, not Los Angeles. I'm not sure who replaced him at KSTE/650, the market's second CC talk station, but it wasn't Darryl Gates. He replaced someone ELSE at KFI in Los Angeles. Though if you had familiarity with both stations, your confusion wouldn't be a surprise...KSTE pretty much was a KFI clone for years.

The joke and your recollection is otherwise correct. :D

Uh, I know what you mean :) And we know how Howie refers to it...

I met Leykis when he did a live remote at the Liberty Tree Mall...seemed like an OK guy. Then a couple
weeks later I'm reading the Globe or was it the Herald and I see "WRKO Talk Host Accused of Wife
beating" or something like that...Tom didn't discuss it at all (under advice of counsel I guess) on
air though later he called his former co-worker (in Albany) Tai (then at WFNX) and explained
what had gone on that night after the "open bar" WRKO Christmas party...
 
Is it true that Micheal Savage has said that Hillary Clinton is a lesbian and constantly talks about
similar topics? If it's true, which it seems like I have heard Savage make comments like that, but
maybe it was somebody else, it could be touchy from RKO to let anything close get through on the
air there?
 
i dont understand what theat person is talking about saying that jimmy had no 7 second delay? is that something to dump? it doesnt break any fcc violations . also, depetro really is trying to reach out to his fans on www.depetro.com.

BTW, a caller said the words "fat lesbian" in regards to Ross again this morning with TF and the board op didn't dump it.

Mind like a steel trap, my friend...it was indeed Toommmmmm Leeyyyyyykis who was replaced by Daryl Gates on KFI.
