John Fuller making moves

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/a...ejects-objections-to-new-fm-translator-in-new

The 99.5 is in downtown New London, not a bad little translator at 250 watts.

You know he'll install HD on WBMW (still a CP to upgrade that signal to B1, too) and run a new station on 99.5

Don't forget, he also just bought translator W230BH in Montauk on 93.9, which is currently slated to rebroadcast his WJJF 94.9. You can bet another move is in the works down there. The W230BH purchase comes with a 3 year option to buy W227AN Southampton. The W230BH xlater went for 10 grand.

Fuller's a beast! An incredibly savvy businessman, just miserable to work for.

Isn't W227AN currently simulcasting with Christian WEGB 90.7?

Yes, they sold W230BH Montauk, and the purchase agreement states that if at any point in the next three years they decide to put W227AN up for sale, Fuller has first dibs.

And you know he is miserable to work for because? Usually people who get fired because they are bad employees usually don't want to send their boss roses.

I'm far from an outsider. I've never worked for John, but I know him and the majority of the employees that have been in that building over the past 10 years personally. I've been in this market for a very long time.

I know what he demands, and how it compares to the other operators throughout New England that I have worked for. If you work in the market and you've had personal interactions with John as many of us have, you know you want to limit your interactions.

I've also worked in the market before, and while never working for John, I hear the same thing. (He's an ass!)

Just wanted to give confirmation.................!

Two Questions:

1. Would this new translator cause any interference to the Connecticut Public Radio translator at 99.5 in Storrs?

2. I wonder what format Mr. Fuller would put on this new translator. Most of the formats seem to be covered in the New London Market.

AC: 106.5 WBMW (Fuller)
CHR: 105.5 WQGN (Cumulus)
Classic Hits:98.7 WNLC (HALL)
Classic Rock: 102.3 WMOS (Cumulus)
Country: 97.7 WCTY (HALL)
Hip-Hop: 107.7 WWRX (Fuller)
Hot AC: 104.7 WELJ (Cumulus from Long Island)
News/Talk: 94.9 WJJF (Fulller)/980 WXLM (Cumulus)
Oldies: 100.9 WKNL (HALL)
Talk/Music: 1310 WICH (HALL)

Am I forgetting anyone?

Would he do Spanish Tropical? (maybe simulcast Bomba 97.1?) There hasn't been a Spanish Tropical Station in the market since 980 flipped to Talk a couple years back. Alternative Rock? All Sports?

Do WCRI & WBLQ cover N.L.?

Meh, kinda. WCRI-FM does a decent job covering the southeast shoreline. WBLQ does well in Stonington/Westerly/Pawcatuck/Mystic, but there's a lot of noise in New London that deteriorates it in the city. WCRI-AM (ex WCNX, ex WJJF) doesn't really come into CT well.

I just noticed that he purchased W285DC Bridgeport, a 19 watt translator on 104.9 to rebroadcast WMRQ-FM... I'd guess to ultimately rebroadcast "Bomba" on the HD2

I've done Engineering work for John and I found him to be a really nice guy and a good, responsible station owner.
