It would be great if Magic 590 could take Ben Patten off his ironman midday shift. Let him stay with Jay on mornings. Put John on middays if the ROW Budget can afford it. Perhaps John Greene's ready to retire again and JR could do afternoon drive. Mr. Greene's a clever host but since he's returned he gabs like he's doing a speed talking commercial. Shadup already!

Replying to myself. This is strange. Just wanted to say how great it is that John G is back on Capital Region airwaves doing middays on Magic 590. Clear Channel's corporate cheapos couldn't keep him after years of loyal service. On the other hand WROW added to their payroll and now have live air shifts all day, definitely improving their brand and commitment to the area.

Little disappointing today that Ben Patten is back from vacation and John Gabriel is only on from 9 to 10 doing the class reunion hour.
Wonder where John Gabriel is going to fit in? Maybe Bob Green will go back in retirement and John Gabriel will do 2 to 6.

I'm curious as to what your source is.I've been listening to John Gabriel since noon on WROW. He went off at two after mentioning that Bob Green was standing behind him ready to go. He mentioned a few times how happy he was to have made the switch.

Whatever, it's good news for local radio.

Regarding Magic 590, I wish they kept the music uptempo during the week like the weekends when they sound like a classic oldies station. Now that they have John G why not go pure oldies rather than easy listening?

If they could add any kind of FM signal they could give WTRY a real competitor. It's a shame people in the Capital Region put up with such a playlist challanged station.

From a ratings stand point it looks like it is working for them. ABC must be happy with the improvement from the previous format. Yes, I am aware of demographics If it ain’t broke.... we are after all talking about an AM station , which most companies don’t care about

Good point about AM's status. Here in the Capital Region we have a 50,000 watt AM transmitter which Crawford is in no hurry to put back on the air. And we have Canada, market by market, eliminating their AM torches.
I don't mind listening to 590 at work or at home. It sounds best on a small table radio. But on the road forget it! Just sounds too muffled on an AM car radio.
