John Ghiorse to retire

Just heard on WP-R-O that WJAR's John Ghiorse will retire as of this Friday 2/27.As I type this it is not yet posted on channel 10's website.

The ghiorse factor for his carreer from me. A "9". I think I had a picnic or two rained on and a trip to the beach. ;D

Good luck to John and his retirement.

He says he might run a website around the Ghiorse Factor.

Sounds like a great way to keep busy in his retirement.

Kudos to Ghiorse. Watched him when I was in college in the 80's. Got to see him move from WJAR to WLNE and, still, WLNE's ratings were dismal.

Any truth to the rumor that WJAR will do away with weekend morning news? I am sure they will not replace Ghiorse especially with the recent cuts and the proposed furlough program. It's crazy that the market leader doesn't even have a weekend evening reporter. Seems to me that Media General is ruining the only good news source in Rhode Island.

He told DePetro that it was time for him to move on, and that he was looking forward to retirement.

I've also heard that his retirment was the reason 10 hired Searles. They've known for quite a while.
