John McIntyre and his stupid blog

Would someone please tell me why Channels 4 and 2 need to talk about John McIntyre's blog? It's infantile and degrading (to Luke Ravenstahl). Is this just a ploy by his friend Bill Peduto to make sure there's some dirt on the young mayor that he's trying to put some smear on his name because Peduto doens't have the popularity as Luke? It seems pretty petty to me.

I think this all got started this week by the P-G's news about Jim Motznik's own blog--which lined Bill Peduto and John McIntire in his sights. It was Motznik's way of (a) showing Peduto to be a hack politico, and (b) to throw some crap back at McIntire.

It's old political games between two Democrats on city council, lined with different factions--which passes for news when you have a willing audience, cold temperatures, and (in KDKA-TV 2's case), 3 hours of news to fill.

Because when most of your audience has an attention span of 10 seconds you can't get into anything deep. They wouldn't stick around if you tried to explain global warming to them or theories of DNA mutations in cancer cells so you have to throw this garbage at them.

Hey, beats the hell out of telling them to get all of the milk and bread at Giant Eagle because another January snow storm is headed their way.

I got to admit John Mcintire is full of s**t. What a long-winded, one-sided, blowhard fest with his blog. Note to CBS Radio: DO NOT bring him aboard the new talk station. All he would do is give the station a left-wing to counteract all of the right-wings in talk radio in Pittsburgh. I'm sure there are other pretentious blowhards in radio that would fit perfectly with what CBS Radio wants to accomplish with the new talker, but Mcintire is not it.

The only "right-winger" I know currently working as a relevant talk show host in Pittsburgh is Fred Honsberger- and he is certainly on the decline.

Jerry Boyer has been off the air for awhile. The rest are syndicated. One could say Quinn is "local," but in reality his show features almost NO local content and he is syndicated as well.

Cullen. Moore. Heck, even The Young Turks replaced Imus on The Edge. WPTT runs Air America programming and hides their syndicated conservative voices on tape delay- as does KDKA.

Where are the conservative Pittsburgh voices? WHERE?

It's a little disingenuous to ask where the conservative voices are then say that syndicated fare doesn't count while at the same time citing the liberal syndicated fare that is currently airing in Pittsburgh. Thom Hartman and The Young Turks certainly aren't addressing anything any more local than Jim Quinn is.

I would argue where are the voices is more due to a lack of talent on the local level (if local is what you are looking for) than a huge groundswell of liberal talk in Pittsburgh. Whether that is because no one has the ability, the lack of opportunities, or the failures of stations to groom talent, that is certainly open to debate.

Inside- Point taken.

But is it any more disingenous to remark on "all the right-wings in talk radio in Pittsburgh."

I realize you're not the one who said that, but I was addressing that point.

Where are these "right-wings in Pittsburgh?" Please tell me- I'd like to listen to them.

What I see is 104.7- which is syndicated fare. Rush, Hanitty and Beck are hardly unique to Pittsburgh. You'll find them in any market in America.

The only local right-winger I know is Fred Honsberger- and to be honest I think he probably does more harm to the local conservative cause than good.

Free FM, will almost assuredly be left-leaning talk when it does talk about political subjects.

It will joint WPTT- which is another station that leans left, as does the "seldom-listened to but still talk format" WURP.

What I was referring to was the format driven syndicated blowhards at 104.7 along with good ol' Freddy Honsberger on KDKA. That was the original message I was trying to convey, next time I will be a lot more specific.
