John McLoughlin, who retired from WTEN just 7 weeks ago is now going to take a part-time position with cross-town rival WNYT in mid-April. According to reports, he will be doing stories where his connections will be helpful. He will not be a general assignment reporter. He will also be doing a column for Schenectady based The Daily Gazette. Some how I get the impression that in the last few of his nearly 40 years at WTEN that there was not the best relationship between management and reporter. A couple of years ago his 'News 10 Sunday Morning " program was cancelled and it would appear that he was not happy about that. The program which he hosted featured a couple of other WTEN reporters and usually talk show host Paul Vandenburg and T-U columnist Carol De Mare and sometimes others was a discussion and analsys of mostly state and local news stories of the week. It will be interesting to see if he tries to start a similar program at WNY
