John Meterparel/Larry Johnson

With cost-cutting hitting almost every nook and cranny in Boston radio land, extraordinarily weak contributors like Meterparel and Johnson--who, by the sounds of it, have 100 detractors for every advocate--become more and more visible as talented folks sadly get shown the door. There can't be too many more grains of sand in the hourglass for these two, unless we conclude that WEEI really doesn't care.

LJ gets occasional sympathy because he's pathetic. Everyone hates Meter.

Listening to Mike Mutnansky over the weekend, he had Meter on for a few minutes via the phone....and Meter annoys me anyway, but this time you could truly tell he was doing his "radio voice" you know? god it was pathetic.

Meter's radio voice and lack of contributing anything that's worth anything really makes me wonder why he's been around so long. I assume D&C must have some ironclad item in the contract that they can hold onto their unfunny punching bag. Ugh, that radio voice...on sports radio, even.

What's worse is that you can tell he's forcing it.

"But uh..."

"Well you know Callahan....."

I think Johnson comes across to me as your typical Title IX hire. Meter has no such excuse; there are no affirmative action laws in place for Eddie Munster lookalikes.

I absolutely agree. I think LJ has been playing the race card his entire life. I've never heard of anyone who likes Meter. That "radio voice" is hideous. Makes you want to strangle him to make it stop.

Then there's his play-by-play of the New England Revolution and the BC Eagles. If the 'radio voice' makes you want to strangle him, the 'play-by-play' voice makes you want to drown him.

I had heard rumors that there actually was someone who listened to Rev games on the radio, but until this minute didn't know who it was.

TSB

Lame Larry is on the Big Show again this afternoon. This is the second time this week. Are they having trouble getting co-hosts or does LJ work cheaper than the others?

I expect they are NOT getting their monies worth, whatever the cost.
As I have said before...cartooning-radio-minsitry?...just do SOMETHING full time and with excellence!

**Fraud Larry alert** lol

First off....thanx GAWD Sean McAdam is on!!!!!

Second....At the beginning of the show, they briefly talked about Manny and the whole soldier visiting thing...and Larry pipes in something to the effect of "Hey Sean, maybe his grandmother died again"

What a tool LOL I'm starting to think that instead of him having the job due to Affirmative Action (in which I thought all along) but now I think that Wolfie and KAAAAAHN! want to listen to him dig himself a bigger whole every time he's on.

One good thing about the departure of A$$ante Samuel (Mr make one play in the SB and pound my chest, then drop the freakin ball that wins the SB) is that we won't have to hear that jackass Johnson call him "Samuals" again. I know he has a hundred other names he butchers, he has one less now.
I also agree that they both (Meter and Johnson) suck and are the worst things going on radio. We must not forget that Mustard is should be included in this grouping.

Meterparel must have some serious dirt on D&C for that lil turd to stick around.

re: two last posts... LJ used the line that Bush used about Manny. Did he credit him?

well, LJ calling him Samuels is better than the time Emily Rooney called him "Samuel Asante." By the way, it's A$ante, with one $. Although for six years, I suppose it could be A$$$$$$ante... oh well.

lj knows zero about sports. samuel was his binky all this time. the fact is samuel stunk for what he was getting paid. statistically, randall gay was a way better cornerback until he got hurt but he and eugene wilson are also gone. bring back ty law!

Regarding name butchering, I can't stand when Buckley and Ordway butcher Nomar's

Buckley: Gar-sha-parra

Ordway: Gar-see-a-pare-a

much easier on the ears than any other co-host. Too bad that any time he starts to put things in any sort of historical perspective, they start that swell of 'nostalgic' baseball music as if to say no one cares.

one of the best.

Has anyone announced when the Baseball Show starts. Butch Stearns is starting to attract the callers that get blown up on the other shows. Danny from Quincy, Steve from Fall River, Bill from New Hampshire, et al.

Buck and McAdam don't let them get away with the crap they pull on other weekend hosts. They used Bill from N.H. for a pinata last year and I haven't heard him on nearly as much. He seems to be braver around Butch.

Also, I haven't heard the once ubiquitous Frank from Gloucester in a while. Could the "retirement" be real this time?
