John Quaintence vs. Jody Lee

When Quaintence was let go by WJCW, why do you think WFHG was willing to stab Jody Lee in the back and let her go?

I think that action speaks very loudly of what kind of a place Bristol Broadcasting is to work- HOW LOYAL!

But there are several MUST ASK questions that have to be presented-

A- With WFHG's rise to No. 1 overall in the talk market, does this mean it's a good move?

B- Would it kill the local stations to produce some local talent, rather than just recycle what's out there? WJCW cuts Quaintence- so WFHG picks him back up. Lee, whose previous experience seems to be that of writing a column for The Loafer, then automatically gets picked up by WPWT.

C- How does WPWT get to shed its image of the No. 3 talk station in town by picking up WFHG's retreds? Will Marty Ricker ever have a job waiting for him there if WEMB lets him go?

D- Since Lee has an identity as a local talk show host- why is she writing for The Loafer? Couldn't one of the three dailies- or even the Greeneville Sun or Elizabethton Star- pick her up to write her column?

Why are you wasting board space talking about this? Number 1 in talk...with a 2 or 3 share in the market? It's not even worth a mention. If we were talking about a major market situation, then stations with a 2 or 3 share would be something worth noting. But, you're talking about a low 90's market with a handful of stations. WFHG barely shows up on the radar screen! Quaintence vs Lee? Who cares?

All due respect-

TK- This board has been alive with talk of the poor treatment of Bristol Broadcasting employees by a music programmer on Electric.

Now, I don't know, but just because the Tri-Cities market is 98th doesn't mean that I think we should ignore who gives and comments on our news. It is commonly said that the media is not as aggressive as it should be in the Tri-Cities, and the recyling of talent, not to mention the departure of Lee, speaks volumes of this.

By your logic, Tri-Cities radio employees should be thankful for a robust $5.15 an hour and agree with everything management dishes out.

Now, I'm sorry, but I think market No. 273 is better than that- let alone No. 98.

I don't have any idea where you pulled that out of! My ommments were about
the ridiculous discussion concerning Tri-Cities talk stations which hardly
show up in the ratings. But thanks for your concern.
