John "Records" Landecker exits WIMS.

So John "Records" Landecker is out at WIMS-AM 1420 "The Talk of the South Shore"
John says it was an amicable exit and that the reason was economic I guess the little station could not afford to pay BIGTIME disc jockey like John fricken Landecker enough money. (little uncle lar humor there)

Any speculation or insiders ~in the know~ on where John is going ?
My hope is LS-AM dumps roe conn into the dust bin and puts Landecker in that spot. Yea thats it, thats the ticket.

I can see where economics would play into this move. However, living in the area and listening to the show, he seemed to be enjoying what he was doing.

Could he be headed back to 'LS-FM or maybe the Hit Parade Radio Network? Personally, I believe that LS-FM could be a powerhouse of a station if they went local and dumped Shannon to very few overnight spots.

I would love to see WLS program some music at night; they've got a massive skywave signal and they've still got an operational CQUAM box on the air after dark. Would that be awesome or what? Even just a few hours would be cool!

Isn't his daughter in a big movie now?
He did a few regular early Saturdays on WLS-Am before the Michigan City WIMS show.
But the Station (WLS) is "talk" and he was not such a good fit. He's not topical or analytical at all. If he didn't like that people have to pay for medical services, he would grind away on his opinion, but didn't have the average person's ability to recognize why patients are expected to try to pay.
In any new show, its apparently going to have to be oldies hits, and maybe a little news-feature commenting.

Didn't Roe Conn on LS-AM just interview her last week? I just tuned in and caught the very end of the conversation so I don't know what the interview was about, but he was congratulating her on something.

KMOX /St. Louis does "Route 66" a music show on Saturday nights -in stereo!
I like the Route 66 show on KMOX a lot, I check it out here in Chicago a lot. The only problem is that
Danny Lake is on at about the same time on WLS FM, and I also like his show a lot. I also would love to see
WLS AM do some music at night. I would love to see them put Danny's show on the AM on Saturday night's.
It would be great to hear it on "The Big 89" with the classic jingles and all.

vforest, I believe that KMOX is broadcasting I Block, I don't believe they are in stereo.

Glad Landecker is on at least on Sunday nights!
I agree with you about Danny Lake and his Saturday night show on WLS-FM.
A great show and that would be great if management did a simulcast on The Big 89. WABC in New York is doing a retro oldies show on Sat nights.
I haven't checked out the Saturday night show on KMOX yet. I have been listening to WABC and WCBS-FM and Danny Lake's show has them beat!

KMOX iluminated the Stereo indicator on my radio in my '91 Jeep the night I listened -and there was separation!

Maybe it's on just for the music?

Ya know, I was wondering the same thing. I listened to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcast early Sunday morning, and it sounded much clearer than usual. When I tuned off on the adjacent channels, the hiss level was not as strong as it usually is. I wondered if they turned it off and whether all I was hearing was residual hiss from other IBOC stations. I didn't think to try my C-QUAM radio. I will do that next time.

After the program, I distinctly heard the hiss level (on-channel) come up. But I can't say definitively if that was due to a change at KMOX or one of the adjacent channels coming on the air, changing pattern, etc.

unless there is another John Landecker running around a poster named "Candy Kane" blogs from N Dakota that he did an on-air "Audition" on a radio station Mojo 104 in Fargo recently. i will believe it when i hear the aircheck.
