John Roberts Returns To Dallas Programming Post

Roberts, well known in Dallas for his time as PD of KEGL and as VP/Programming for Clear Channel/Dallas when he departed in June 2005, has reemerged on the scene as First Broadcasting/Dallas Group PD.

In his new role, he will oversee Classic Country KFXR and KMGS, the latter of which will launch later this spring with a Talk-based format.

Do you think there will be any new openings when they make the switch to talk?

NOPE. There is so many cheap syndicated network talk shows out there, all trying to be the next Rush. DFW is literally drowning in the talk format. This one will not even make a scratch. The only notice it will get is on this board. That's not being negative, that's just reality.

This is an absolute train wreck waiting to happen. Don't these people know of this guy's reputation for destroying morale and leaving or getting canned on regular basis?

Throw in the fact that he is not a classic country or talk programmer, and this will implode soon enough!

First Broadcasting: you get what you deserve! Whoever hired Roberts will regret it for a long time.

Yeah, I had a run in with Mr. JR back in '96. I'm sure glad that I chose another career.
