John Rooney has a new job

> Wonder if Wayne Hagin is in the mix for the Sox job?

He called Sox games with Rooney from 1989 to '91, but I thought they were looking for a new analyst with Ed Farmer doing play-by-play.

Wow I do remember Hagin & Rooney on WMAQ and the main gripe was that they sounded too much alike. I think they replaced Lorn Brown & Del Crandall back then.

I find this interesting as an August article on the Cardinals web site that announced the move to a new flagship stated that Wayne was to return next season. I wonder why and when they did a 180! I also wonder if anyone can reccommend a web site that tracks the moving of broadcasters during the off season. I don't know if such a site exists, but that would be a good idea.

That would be a terrific idea, I agree.

Apparently the Cardinals had tried to get Rooney at the time Hagin was hired, but he couldn't get out of his Sox contract. When he became available, they grabbed him.

Also, the article implies that Hagin and Mike Shannon didn't mesh very well in the booth, so that may have been a factor as well.
