John Slobbermouth Ziegler gone and quickly forgotten

While I wasn't a fan of JZ, his show was definitely head and shoulders above the try-outs on KFI the last several weeks. The talent pool has to be pretty dry not to have anyone stronger to replace him with (or CC has decided evenings aren't worth the effort -see KTLK).

Notice no one cares,

It is one thing to not like someone or appreciate their work, and quite another to be insulting and rude which your heading definitely is. That added to the fact that his absence is old news makes this less relevant, but since you began the topic there is someone who cares, you.

I once though his show had promise but something happened which I sensed from the time of the dust up with John Kobylt and it seemed to go quickly down hill. I did buy and read his book "The Death of Free Speech" though. He had made some allusions several months ago about the fact that his position at KFI was becoming untenable so I image it was in fact a mutual decision that he leave.

I have made the comment that if they want to continue live and local that Sean Rima would be a good pick. There are also some rumors on here that maybe Mr. KFI might come back. Stay tuned!

It is radio and voice matters. I don't care about his politics, he talked like he had a mouth full of marbles. I also thought that it was funny that he always whined about the "mainstream media bias" -he worked for Clear Channel-- he was not broadcasting from a basement in his underwear--he was part of the mainstream media.

now Mr KFI has a good radio voice, and a good on air personality. Zeigler should do voice over for cartoons

nmoore's comment about "rude and insulting" Ziegler never called anyone a name? like Govener Bennadict Arnold...? and he was always just a perfect gentleman, never rude? Give me a break. "Breck Girl"

His main premise was that the mainstream media was bias. His second premise was that few people were buying the LA Times, watching the alphabet channels, etc. So therefore what difference would it make if they were "bias" -if no one was accessing the "mainstrem media."

Each show he would say something like "this is strange the LA Times got this one right" or "NBC, for a change got this one right" or "the NY Times, which is normally bias, had a good article on..." He would cite the mainstream media as a source for his show.

Also, what a wimp. He was always a rough, tough "he-man" that we should do this or that in Iraq...and then he says that doing 15 hours of radio a wek was killing him. Most of his stuff was Rush replay, with a little OJ thrown in.

Finally, he said he was going to do a documentary on the Clintons and the war on terror. If Obama wins the primary, will anyone want to pay to watch that? or even take the time to watch it for free?

Remember though - a good host doesn't just show up and do the show. There's prep time, and usually I find it's about 2-3 times the amount of time on air - that comes out around 30-45 hours per week - I'm guessing closer to 45. It's certainly a full-time job.

John's new replacement is Bryan Suits who starts Monday Jan 21. Meanwhile JZ is doing a daily commentary on KGIL. You can listen to his Podcast on their website. I listened to it and it sounds like he had a few before recording.

I guess he is not forgotten as this discussion continues.

Feeder comment:  ;D :D

Re: What if John Ziegler Was Making A Point

, after working for Clear Channel you might need a few too!. After what Clear Channel has done to the Antelope Valley, I think I might believe John Ziegler over Mitt Romney's company Bain Capitol which is buying Clear Channel. Bain is going to make the Mays look like Monks. just look what they did to Home Depot, remember customer service?

Mitt Romney has nothing to do with this. The AV has nothing to do with this. This is about a medium-market talk show host who hasn't learned how to play in the bigs. How to exhibit any kind of aplomb. The guy claims his leaving was mutual (which we all know was nonsense... except that CC wanted to get rid of him as much as he claims to have wanted to leave), now implies he got tossed out, and then goes to the worst talk station in the market (is he buying the time courtesy of the garage door people?) that can't be heard east of the 710.

I didn't love John's show, but it wasn't horrible. But this tear he's on shows he can't manage his career or act reasonably in this tumultuous business.

kgil, thanks I'll go out and buy a Drake radio so I can hear it. Suits, huh, well maybe he can get the "Four Day Suit Broker" or "Roger Stuart" to take out some ads. I was hoping they would bring back Karel, so he can drive the rest of the people at KFI nuts.

Aren't the rest of the people at KFI nuts already? I think it's Three Day Suit Broker, but if I was running KFI I'd put you in charge of marketing and promotions on the strength of your ideas.

The King of All Nuts leaves internet turds that just keep on giving:

I concede to your point, however that particular nut is not on the KFI tree , nor likely to ever be. Despite all of the flaws, they do still manage to remain the most listened to talk station in all of America and I seriously doubt that this person is on any of the top rated, by overall listeners, talk stations in the nation.
