JOHN SUMMERS BACK TO KLUV FULLTIME!

I knew this would get lost within the CBS post...John Summers will be back soon on afternoons--LIVE--at KLUV. I don't know where their generosity or influx of money for talent came from, but apparently it was sweet enough for John to leave his post at Dial-Global. Congrats, John, and I hope it's going to be everything you wanted!

John's a great guy! He was one of several (along with Debi Diaz, Karin Hall, Lisa Oliver and Rick Vanderslice) who said I should at least do radio part-time as much as I enjoyed it. Of course, it took me out of Dallas, but I had quite-a-few great years in the business, including how I paid my bills when I went back to college!

Glad to hear he's back!

Congratulations to John, Z, and anyone at CBS responsible for returning more of this great radio station to the Listeners....Awesome!

The score is TWO to nothing, Lancer. Jenny Q is now live and local, local, local (did I mention local?) middays as well.

A station adding a veteran local on-air talent to its line-up? "Live & local"? Booyah!
Meanwhile, Sandi Sharp is OUT! :(

lol

seems ironic that Peter Z did the gutting at KLUV and now we're praising him for a SUBPAR midday compared to DD, and finally bringing back a solid talent in JS who was NOT a MONEY decision, and he knows it

Totally love Debi's work and miss her. Jenny has brought us the highest ratings in KLUV midday history, and has thus earned the shift. On afternoons, there was no question that John deserved his job back. You are entitled to disagree, but I still get to make the decision.

"...Seems ironic that Peter Z did the gutting at KLUV and now we're praising him for a SUBPAR midday compared to DD..."--Lucky1

Luck...

When Z was reducing the staff at K-LUV, I gave him a call looking for a fill-in shift or two...He thanked me, and immediately talked about how he had to give as much work to those who had just been RIF'ed. His loyalty to his Talent spoke, and still speaks, volumes to me.

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but On-Air Radio Broadcasters are trying to survive an employment Nuclear Winter...Gripe all you want about Radio pathologically eviscerating its Talent Pool, but when a PRO-grammer fights to add Live & Local Personalities to his Airstaff, and is successful...How about you stow the pointless bitter bile, stop looking a gift horse in the mouth, and join the celebration?

"...You are entitled to disagree, but I still get to make the decision."--Peter Z

Debi Diaz is a stone, major-market Radio Pro....Sorry she's not lighting up Top-5 Middays right now. But Q is hauling the mail, right?

KLUV 4.2 6+

Let's keep our eye on the ball, huh?

The Wells Report
Dallas/Ft. Worth

....

We have 2 or 3 radio stations trying to do NEWS here in Las Vegas because of Mr Wells. A fire here a wreck there...some other good stuff. If Wells hadn't needled the powers that be, we would be stuck with TV...which does not work we if you are in a car.

I meant to say "TV does not work well in the car" ...The TV and newspapers in Vegas do some good in depth "award winning" stuff, but the radio is just getting the breaking news out....on occasion.

People in Dallas should be thankful there is some adequate news and information on their radios...

True. We shouldn't assume that everyone has it as well as we do. We have at least some local news regularly on KLIF, KSKY, WBAP, KRLD & KERA.
