John Tesh - Intelligence For Your Life

Who really enjoys this program? I find it annoying and repetitive and I instantly change the channel until the music returns. Who made the 1980s host of Entertainment Tonight such an expert on everything?

To make it worse, it seems like the program is expanding into adult hits and nostalgia formats too. I know of at least one a/c station that uses the tracks for about 8 hours every day.

Speaking of which, are the segments voicetracked daily, weekly, monthly??? The reason why I ask is a local station will often air something completely out of sync with the time of the year. An example: Tesh ranting about how to cook a Thanksgiving turkey in the middle of the summer.

I just know some stations, including Renda Broadcasting's AC WSHH/Pittsburgh, that carries John Tesh's show weekdays between 12-5AM. Other stations carry John Tesh different hours, I think.

I never listened to an AC station with John Tesh before. I listen to my local AC CBS Radio's KVIL and I also listen to AC in Oklahoma City Renda's KMGL. Both stations offer the Delilah's show at night between 7PM-12AM. I'm not sure if the Delilah's show is similar to John Tesh's Show. Not to mention that WSHH also carries Delilah along with John Tesh.

I heard some people love Delilah like my mom, but some people is sick of Delilah. Same thing probably goes for John Tesh.

I heard some AC stations aren't doing very well in the PPM (People Per Meter) market with the Delilah's Show. I'm not sure I think same goes for John Tesh. I also heard several ClearChannel's AC stations including WMGF and KSNE dropped the Delilah's Show. Not to mention that WMGF also dropped John Tesh's Show before they dropped the Delilah's show.

Oh well, IMO, I think half of the people like Delilah and/or John Tesh and half of the other people hate Delilah and/or John Tesh. Some AC listeners came up with a theory that AC's carrying either or both Delilah and/or John Tesh aren't doing well in the new PPM ratings.

I wouldn't know anything much about John Tesh, but I enjoy the Delilah's show. Sure Delilah may be annoying, but I think her stories and conversation are meaningful. Delilah's playlist may be kind of repetitive, but once in a while something unusual comes up on the Delilah's playlist. I still prefer the station regular playlist, but it doesn't really matter because a lot of good stuffs comes up on the Delilah's playlist.

Has anyone listened to the show on KPLZ? I like the show, but if you're going to carry the show, do it right! Don't cut off the first story of every hour and don't start the show 10 minutes late. I really like listening to it on other stations.

I've heard John Tesh and don't care for him.

I understand he is on KOY Phoenix, with might be characterized as "nostalgia", which someone mentioned.

Maybe he's not PPM friendly. ???

I can't stand his show, but he's a very nice guy.
I agree. John seems like a nice guy, and his show may be interesting to listen to "on demand" or something, but the show is irritating. Just like Delilah. Stop and start the music, stop and start the music. The long spiels about hand washing on JT's show or the perfect boyfriend on Delilah's get to be old....I'd rather just hear music!

John Tesh hosted mornings at WYXB/Indianapolis until this spring - helping take the station to #1 in 12+ and at some demos (rumored, at least). Emmis has since hired a local morning host to reclaim the network spot time.

It's a very generic show that fits many formats. It's really a good concept for smaller and market stations that want more than just time, temp and ID on the air.

Don't care for the show personally, but it makes good business sense.
