I tuned in 94.3 in the other nite in hopes of catching the yankees, and get Jon Tesh and his AC show; I realize that they run this slumber party on 97.3.... IT sounds like the disease is running rampant on Pendel road; is that the best they can do, John friggin Tesh??? So lame....Not only is it not their format, but it's bad.... I guess it's not possible to Hurt the Wolf's ratings, as they are on the bottom of the dumpster and have been..... ???

fire when ready

Meh.

There's not that much evening listening on radio any more, especially compared to daytime. It's not a difference-maker one way or the other. Long as the Yanks come in on game night it's all good.

94.3 is a waste.

I know that, it is a waste. The problem with "The Wolf" is that they were playing Creedence Clearwater Revival, Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles and a few others that are not country. Come on here, this station is throwing out of the water. And the call letters might be WKXP which is ridiculous!

I guess maybe if they could change the format if the call letters still the same, then flip it to a simulcast of WXPK from White Plains, NY at 107.1 and will call it 94.3/107.1 "The Peak". If Pamal should take over Cumulus like they did with CC at 92.9 if Pendell Rd. needs to do this, then go ahead! Maybe WKXP and WXPK would be two of the stations to do a AAA format and maybe they should go after WDST.

If not, maybe they should bring the WBPM call letters from 92.9 and go back to 94.3 where it really belongs. I guess "Classic Hits 92.9" is a waste, except for "Ran Man". WBPM has been on 94.3 for about 4 years when they gave up oldies to go country as "Kicks" and now "The Wolf". But now, I hope the station needs to be ready for this comeback maybe in a year or two where WBPM is going to back to 94.3, and they will be flipping back to top 40 like the last station did back in 1999 as "B-94". I guess they should bring it back soon if it is a mess.

As for 92.9, bring back the WRKW calls and make it "Classic Hits 92.9" and it's still WRKW. WBPM has been on another frequency since 2004 when it flipped from "92.9 Rock" to "Cool 92.9" until the very end and now "Classic Hits 92.9"

I hope the Hudson Valley needs to clean up this mess and go back where it really belongs.

As usual, I understand about 30% of what you write. However, the mix of Eagles, Ronstadt and CCR into contemporary country, is a pretty good idea. The concept of "flipping" it to every possible format under the sun (especially AAA) seems silly.

I knowthat, and there was one problem, the Yankee games that are on 94.3. I know that it is the post-season, the Yanks are in the Division Series. I'm not a Yankee fan if this station came on, but it was simulcasting WCBS-AM and it didn't sound fidelity on FM, why not bring it back on AM, maybe WKNY hasn't been broadcasting Yankee games for a few years, come on! It doesn't really belong on FM. I remember when the former "Cool 94.3" started broadcasting Yankee games from WCBS-AM before "Kicks" and "Wolf", this was not a good place to begin with.

What's going to happen with the Yankee games on "The Wolf" at 94.3 only? I guess they maybe the listeners should go to either WRWD or WRWC for more country music.

Let's hope if 2008 rolls around, maybe it would be a better year if this considers a format flip. Will have to wait and see.

As for the HV radio itself, it has no oldies station except WCZR's "Cruisin' 93.5" at the northern end, because the signal was a waste and it covers up by WBWZ "Star 93.3", come on! In addition to that, there is no rhythmic AC in that market also. I wish rhythmic AC would be a better idea for the HV for a format change.

If this happens in 2008, maybe the change will become "Movin' 94.3".

Another topic that's gotten so far off track thanks to DF.... wasn't this a John Tesh thread?

Anyways.... DF says that playing certain crossover artists is bad, then agrees with a poster who said it's not, then blames the Yankees. Where do I start?

CCR. Ronstadt, and the Eagles all had airplay on country stations back when they were current artists. Just as country music crossed over to Top 40 & AC, the same happened in reverse. Then theres the whole 'sharing' concept and the idea that The Wolf is trying to capture more P2 & P3 audience, something DF will never understand.

Second, why is everybody bent on the idea that sports coverage belongs only on AM? There's only a couple of viable daytime frequencies on AM in the HV, neither of which can be heard in most of the area at night, when most baseball games are played. The Wolf carrying the Yanks? Brilliant move. Brings in listeners that might not otherwise stop on 94.3. Also brings in the prospect for additional revenue, which is the real purpose of radio. Recycling every old format that didn't work the first time around has proven to be bad for business more often than not.

No need for a historical recap on every post Disney, most of the folks here on this board were actually alive when all this took place, and we really don't appreciate some kid to tell us how things supposedly went.

Good post AMonFM, nobody completely understands DF anyway. Although it does create nighttime revenue which is important, actually in most cases FM stations carrying sports have LOST audience. Probably, because the audience is split by those who don't want to hear games (or that particular team). Split again by those, who either out of habit or being unaware the game is on a country station on FM continue to listen on the AM which does get into the market....in this case, 880. And split even again by those who might listen, but would rather watch the games on television.

In the case of some stations, the audience drop is of no great consequence in a less than vital daypart. But in other cases, those games (and even more so the day games) often drive P1 listeners directly to a format competitor. So it's a dangerous decision.

WRWD carrying NASCAR is a similar situation.

Now that the Yankees season is over due to a terrible lost to the Cleveland Indians in the ALDS, go back to hear some country until the next season if there is going to be some changes. WRWD is running Nascar through November, but Nascar rules! I like it better than the Yankees.

What are you talking about? The Yankees sounded fine on 94.3, and I'm sure they brought in good ratings. There is NO FREAKING REASON for the Yankees to be put on WKNY. Their signal is garbage, and of course, so is their fidelity. Why must baseball games be broadcast only on AM? FM is much more popular and has more listeners. The simulcast on WKXP was great... no AM static like on WCBS.
