John Tesh on Christian ACs

So I read on the Cleveland board earlier that John Tesh is going to start airing on two Salem fish stations, the one in Los Angeles and the one in Cleveland (this one I listen to since I live near it).

Now, John Tesh has released a number of praise & worship albums, and I believe he left his position on Entertainment Tonight years ago citing religious reasons.

But, his radio show, at least bits from what I've heard, runs purely secular AC hits.

Many on this board have debated about spinning some secular tunes within the predominantly Christian music, but now we're entering an arena where these Christian ACs are mimicking secular ACs literally verbatim for 5 hours in the evening.

I understand that not every Christian station is called to be preaching/teaching or solely praise & worship, but isn't there a line somewhere? I mean, if we are going to have Christian stations, shouldn't they be able to distinguish them somehow? On a different level, Christians are called to live different lives. Being led by the Holy Spirit in accordance with Biblical guidelines, Christians avoid certain things and do other things, making them distinguishable from a non-Christian. So, should our Christian radio stations act similarly?

Maybe the idea is that these Fish stations no longer want to be distinguished as Christian stations, but just merely positive, easy listening music stations. If that is the case, then of course Tesh fits, just like he fits on the mainstream soft AC station now.

What are your thoughts?

The Christian AC's control the musical content of the show so I doubt any of them are airing secular music during this program.

From what I understand, The Fish/Los Angeles & The Fish/Cleveland will both be programming their own Christian AC tunes, with Tesh doing custom back-announces/front announces occaisionally....

Tesh is also on WVFJ/FM "J93.3" Atlanta... and they stream in the evening, and they're certainly playing Christian AC music, plus I've heard Tesh do back announces as well. They stream at http://wvfj.com/default.asp

The Tesh show is also on in MID DAYS on Christian non-comm WSAE/FM "HomeFM" in Spring Arbor, MI.

to emphasize on that (spelling?)... Tesh's onair brakes are basically sent as voicetracks... if you've noticed he very rarily if ever announces an artist and song. this is because the station just creates a normal onair music log and just sticks his vt's in accordingly... so it sounds like he is live and local and you stay with your normal music clock.

John is very much a Christian and had offered two shows by syndication - one clean, family friendly secular A/C, another just for Christian radio. Not too many Christian stations if any went for his show. This is a big break for him to be on Salem. We were offered his Christian show at one time. I am sure the music will be appropriately picked for Christian stations. He is an awesome guy!!!!
