So I read on the Cleveland board earlier that John Tesh is going to start airing on two Salem fish stations, the one in Los Angeles and the one in Cleveland (this one I listen to since I live near it).
Now, John Tesh has released a number of praise & worship albums, and I believe he left his position on Entertainment Tonight years ago citing religious reasons.
But, his radio show, at least bits from what I've heard, runs purely secular AC hits.
Many on this board have debated about spinning some secular tunes within the predominantly Christian music, but now we're entering an arena where these Christian ACs are mimicking secular ACs literally verbatim for 5 hours in the evening.
I understand that not every Christian station is called to be preaching/teaching or solely praise & worship, but isn't there a line somewhere? I mean, if we are going to have Christian stations, shouldn't they be able to distinguish them somehow? On a different level, Christians are called to live different lives. Being led by the Holy Spirit in accordance with Biblical guidelines, Christians avoid certain things and do other things, making them distinguishable from a non-Christian. So, should our Christian radio stations act similarly?
Maybe the idea is that these Fish stations no longer want to be distinguished as Christian stations, but just merely positive, easy listening music stations. If that is the case, then of course Tesh fits, just like he fits on the mainstream soft AC station now.
What are your thoughts?
