John Tesh Show

FOX4 reported on the Sunny flip this morning and they said that the syndicated John Tesh Show will be moving to Mix 102.9. I have never heard his show but I can't imagine it fitting in with Mix's current playlist. Discuss...

Interesting, I haven't listened often, but I am surprised. Isn't the music John plays a bit too soft for Mix?
______________

The Tesh Show, just like Delilah, is available with a format-friendly mix, or the station's own mix (pardon me, "Mix"). So that won't be an issue.

I've listened to the "so called" John Tesh Voice Tracking Extravaganza. It's nothing more than JT voice tracking a series of ins & outs with a few prerecorded phone calls and bits thrown in. Trash like this chaps my rear.
Do a little digging around and you can easily see that it's "customized to fit your format" radio. I can't fault the guy for taking the cash for an easy gig, but that doesn't mean I can't hate the cash machine mentality that created it. Go to his website and you can even shop in the John Tesh Radio Show Store.
For every one of these voice tracked souless shows, there's a jock that cares about the listeners and the music that's out of work.

I don't believe that FOX 4 reported that the Tesh show would move to Mix. I believe they said the Tesh show COULD move to Mix 102.9 since it would be the most logical fit.
/not that it's a big deal in the first place.
//actually likes some of Tesh's music.

Couldn't agree with you more. When he first came on in East Texas, that's exactly what I was hearing...NOTHING personal or time-specific. Admittedly, he's got some interesting information, though.

"Waxed eloquent" (as the late Jerry Clower would've said) on that one, my friend.
______________

You've gotta figure that Connie and the kids are high-maintenance.

True, but given a choice of Tesh or Delilah, I'd go with JT in a heartbeat. At least he makes you think, instead of considering checking yourself in ("not crazy, just a little unwell"). It'll be kind of interesting to hear him and Dull-ilah side-by-side on the dial.

BTW, that really was a short run on "Sunny." Tesh's show started June 20th. Does that mean that up until that time (or possibly well into July) Clear Channel was still sold on Sunny and the decision to switch to Preciosa was made quite recently, like maybe less than a month ago?

No, they said it WILL and so did the MD for Mix. Done deal.

All the syndicated shows are done that way, and have been for years. You really think the hosts sit around the studio for several hours while the discs and barter spots play? And it's much easier to do these days with modern computer based editing.

The average listener wouldn't care though. As long as its an interesting/entertaining show, it will do well.

Will Tesh air during the evening or overnights??

I believe there are a couple of Tesh affiliates who either have live hosts during the evening of run Delilah, and end-up running Tesh on overnights.

There are a handful of his affils that run his show in overnights, but I believe they were early ones who are "grandfatherd" in, and only a few out of his affiliate roster do.

The majority of his stations are 7-mid, with a few in the daytime (CC's WJCD/Norfolk runs him in AM Drive). I don't think they're doing deals for "just overnights" anymore. KIOI/San Francisco and KPLZ/Seattle both run him 7-midnight, and then rebroadcast him again in overnight.
