John Tesh

I know his show can currently be heard on suburban stations like K-Joy, but I wonder why Fresh 102.7 didn't clear this show. It's a no-brainer. I mean, think about it: "Tesh on Fresh"! How 'bout it?

I am guessing that since the coverage areas of 98.3 on Long Island and 102.7 in NYC overlap, the John Tesh show can't be heard on both stations.

I don't know how anyone could suggest that someone local should lose a job these days. Even though Fresh doesn't allow for much personality on the air, at least there is a live body in there, right? Management of radio stations are destroying enough jobs on their own, they don't need the suggestion of message board posters.

What's wrong with WEBE speeding up the music? There's probably a lot of people listening that may have listened to CHR 15-20 years ago, and may appreciate hearing the music the same way they remember.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't he on WEBE108 in Connecticut?

Yep. 7-Midnite. WEBE is a horrible station. Only AC station I know of that speeds up the music.

Yeah, a horrible station. It is in market 148, and is the higest billing FM outside a top 50 market. Just terrible.

Just because a station bills well doesn't mean u have to like it.

True. But you have to respect it's success.

The Tesh show is a good show for small (or medium?) markets that need to fill a daypart cheap. The show is free, as long as you run the spots in the show. Small to medium market stations don't typically have a lot of spots in the evening, so runny the show's spots is not a problem. Large market stations typically don't want to give up the inventory.

Also, the Tesh show isn't really good in the competitive environment of a major market.

The speeding up of music on WEBE 108 is a recent development within the past few months. As for Tesh's show I caught it once on The River 105.9 in Hartford while I was in the car waiting for a friend who never showed up. Tesh was giving advice about job interviews and resumes. I thought it was good advice. I don't have a resume. I've worked in retail all my life. (Including a 2 1/2 year internship at a suburban Hartford pea-shooter radio station). People who work retail in non-management/supervisory positions do not use resumes.

Dammit, why must you always try to invoke WXCT into every one of your posts? WXCT has nothing to do with retail, and was not relevant to your job at WXCT. My goodness, that is the stretch of all stretches...
