john wallach and the sports flash

id like to preface my remarks by saying wallach is very professional and generally does a great job with the flash.

this might be small and petty, but the way he does the 'im john wallach and that's the sports flash' really irks. you all know what im saying.

am i the only one bothered by this?

He's the least annoying full-timer on the station. And the "Wallace" thing should have went out with 2007.

It doesn't irk me, but I can understand why it may bother some. Kind of like a speed bump at the end of the road. He is awesome though, very smooth. I think he has a great flow.

Nothing that Jon Wallach does irks me more than the fact that Dennis, Callahan, Meterparel, Mustard and Johnson are still on the air.

Of the three regular flash guys Wallach would be my #1.

I love Wallach's sports flash. He is the most professional on WEEI, think he does a great job not overdoing his modulation like Meter does. Wallach is also a very good play by play man. Meterparel sounds like someone who is mocking a radio DJ and he also makes idiotic side comments on the soccermoms in the morning (d&c). He just sounds like a phony.

I'd bash Meter, but there is currently a thread on the first page dedicated to that. Not that it doesn't deserve multiple threads all by itself, but I'll wait another week before another thread pops up.

I think "and that's the flash" or "and that's the sports flash" is the company line. All the flash boys say it. Jamie Parker gets a little down and dirty and says "you have been flashed". As I said before, I can't comment on anything I've heard on WEEI since early February. I haven't turned on the station since that first Sunday. I like Wallach though, he does a steady job on that station. I might be able to turn it back on in April sometime....

I meant to ask earlier, who does Wallach do play-by-play for? I've not heard that mentioned. Dale sounded good on the Sox broadcast yesterday. Of course after Meterparel, a high school kid would sound good.
