John Williams Returns To Minneapolis - Stays With WGN!

GN is certainly a mixed bag these days! I don't know their daytime shows because I'm not around a radio at that time, but I tune in at night and some of it's pretty disappointing. I've heard the Brian Noonan show a few times and I'm surprised anybody wants to pay the electric bill to keep that guy on the air. I think he is a real airhead (and not in a good way).

One thing I can compliment them on: WGN is still the best sounding station, and the only big Chicago signal with the guts to turn off I-block. They get my heartfelt appreciation for that!

For whatever reason, I'm reminded of the best quote I ever read about WCCO.

A number of years back, in their annual "Best Of" awards, the Twin Cities Reader proclaimed WCCO "Best Oldies Station". Not because of any music being played (basically there wasn't any). But to paraphrase the writer, "When you tune in, it's always 1953 and everybody feels good".

Is Cochran going to pick up the noon hour on WGN? Otherwise,
Williams signs off about 12:59, then at 1:06 or so has to turn
around with his two hours ISDNed to WCCO.

"When you tune in, it's always 1953 and everybody feels good".

I LOVE that. In 1953, I was 4 years old. "Mommy, can I please have another Salerno Butter Cookie?" I wanna watch Uncle Johnny Coons.
