John Williams to replace Spike at WGN

I think John Williams is a genuinely decent person. I wish him well and will continue listening to WGN in the morning.

I knew that was going to happen for a real long time from the get go!
Just as I said from the day that Spike had taken any time off form his show,
John Williams has always filled in for spike since day one......

I called this a month ago. He's young, 49 (for WGN), he's in-house, he's a Cub fan and he's cheap in radio terms, for now. That fits the Tribune model to a T.

The day before Bob Collins' death, when I was living in Illinois, I was in the car listening to John Williams on WGN. I'd always had great admiration for his style and intelligence, starting with his evening gig on WMBD in Peoria.

My mind wandered. I thought, "Williams would be great doing mornings on WGN, but he'll never get a chance, because Collins will be at WGN forever."
