John Wilson Back on WSTW

Confirmed the rumor. John Wilson is set to return to WSTW mornings for the next 2 weeks. Frat Boy and mommy might be a little worried! A real morning show could break out at any moment. Could this be the start of a shake up at WSTW? I wonder how the man who let him go feels about this turn of events. The plot thickens.

Is John just going to be behind the scenes? John Wilson is a great programmer and on air personality, but why are we getting older on a CHR station. Are they going to change format to Hot/AC? If they did change format, with John, Mike Rossi, and even Joe, they might be able to steal some listeners back from WJBR. Hell, bring back Mike Sommers, I don’t think he is working. Johnny B, but he is down in TX and Dana McDonald is in Milford. I also I think I heard A-Game on SOJO 104.9 the other day. Why not bring the whole gang back and blow WJBR out of the water. Listeners don’t care totally about the music they care more about the DJ’s! ;D

I don't know if I agree totally with that statement. If I don't like the music you're playing, I don't care how entertaining the DJ is, I'm not going to be listening. A successful station, in my opinion, needs a solid play list of great music (for whatever demo you're going for) AND good entertaining On Air Talent.

So yes bring back those solid DJ's that made WSTW so popular AND have a great format of music to pull in those listeners you're trying to reach.

Two problems for WSTW. First, the music does not have that wide an audience, and has not had one for several years. They need to move CLOSER to Hot AC, but not try to duplicate WJBR.

Second, the younger dj's they have tried simply have not worked. It is time to bring back several of those who knew what they were doing.

How about this line up? John Wilson in the morning. Mike Rossi Midday, Mike Sommers PM drive and Dana MacDonald at night. A complete overhaul.

Back in the 80's WSTW did a great job of hot a/c days, chr at night. Go for the adults during the day, and transition to a CHR-ism format at night. WJBR has always been a boring radio station, the background station in Wilmington.

How has the younger not worked?
WSTW with Mike Rossy and Dana Mcdonold i liked.
They didn't just play the music.
Mark Summers is good Saturday nights (I think he's still on?)
Johnny B? what happend to him.
I like radio with the music i like and the personalities too.
The music I like? easy. Personality? Not so easy (though i've found drive time it is easier to find them. Why is that ?
