Just read that JohnJay and Rich are expanding their pop culture empire to San Diego starting monday and will be heard on Channel 933. I do enjoy their show for the pop culture aspect and its not bad for two guys orig from a tucson top 40 station!

Is channel 933 some new AM station I don't know about in San Diego? Has the FCC finally allowed AM stations to be seperated by intervals of 9 like they are in Europe? =)

Boring! Good guys but nothing new. I consulted for many Clear Channel stations including Tucson for a short time. They have the typical two man “morning zoo” type of show. There are a million shows just like them. Fill in the blanks with any two names and add a few standards “bits” and the formula is complete. A combination of remaining easy to work with and cheap salaries will continue to keep them as an attractive option for stations looking to save money. The budget crisis continues to kill radio and drive content down. Even worse now, the lower level talent doesn’t even need to be local. Piping in a show, even with mediocre talent, is easy and financially painless.

I have heard that they are also invading Denver... by the end of the month. Like them or not, CC has apparently really bought into their show.

This was a done deal the first day that Debbie Wagner was transferred to San Diego from Tucson. Johnjay and Rich are two of her closest friends-and do remember they were on in Tucson for YEARS before moving to Phoenix-and are still on in Tucson.

San Diego was never an IF, it was always a WHEN.

Not about talent. If that was the case, they would be lucky to stay in Phoenix, although they are nice guys with a good attitude. It’s about convenience for stations, and the willingness of that show to work extra hard for incredibly low money. Unfortunately, that is where radio is right now.

They are also going to be added to the Party in denver. Not bad San Diego and Denver all in one week

Yes, unfortunately these two are still blighting our fair city... :(

I listen to JJ&R every morning, but not long because of work. I think they drop names too often and their "war" with Ryan Seacrest is very one-sided. However, I do find them entertaining.

I wish JohnJay and Rich good luck and hope they pick up more markets.
