Johnjay & Rich arrive

With the announcement that Johnjay & Rich are coming to Channel 9-3-3 Monday, the chances that J&J will come back got even slimmer. There is a fresh new (read: not lazy) high-octane, personality-heavy morning show in town with tons of cred and a successful ratings history coming to town. With AJ in the morning, 94.1 has proven they can do more with less AJ and now there is another high profile morning show in town that will continue to suck the air out of the room for J&J. Talk about getting squeezed out. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of Jeff, Jer and Tommy in the garage.

JohnJay and Rich Bera (Bera used to be DSC's producer) have a solid record as a ratings winner in Tuscon and Phoenix. Meanwhile, CC now has a corner on the high-profile morning show market with DSC, Mikey, AJ and now JohnJay and Rich. If I was at CBS and if I was even thinking about letting J&J back on KYXY or Sophie, the chances are even more remote since Sophie is on fire without any high paid talent and KYXY simply doesn't need J&J. Plus, KPRI wouldn't do J&J because they'd have to switch to some form of Hot AC. And instead of being the only AAA game in town, they would now be entering a new game as the third of three Hot ACs.

And based on their appearances on a local TV station they aren't all that hot. Never listened to them on radio.
 
Will they be moving in market or are we just another one of their affiliates now? I thought I had heard somewhere on here that they were rumored to move to SD. I am so over having DJ's talk to me that are not even here. I mean, at least with Boy Toy Jesse and Sisanie, they used to be down here so when they reference places or things down here, I know they at least know of it. Its so annoying to me though! This whole same DJ in like 10 cities is so...blah...so impersonal. Might as well have given us Seacrest like the rest of the nation.
 
wow, good thing you dont work in this business if you think some lousy out of town morning show (from arizona) beats san diego's own jeff and jer!! i would much rather have a local show with talent that has served our community for over 20 years than yet ANOTHER cruddy imported show. i mean jeeezus if they're are going to give us this low budget crapola on 93.3 why don't they really save some money and just simulcast KIIS from los angeles. clear channel obviously doesn't give a flying fart about the san diego listener.

we used to have quality shows with local san diego talent. now we have low budget people from tucson---- come on!!!
 
Since Jeff and Jer seems to be coming up in these threads, wouldn't Jeff and Jer work well on a talk station? What talk stations are there down in San Diego? KABC comes to mind here as one of a few talk stations across the country that has lighter programming on from sunrise until early afternoon when they switch to more serious, issues programs. Frosty, Heidi and Frank are back middays on KABC, for example, and I'd bet that Jeff and Jer wouldn't mind sleeping in. Just sayin'.
 
Oh great, Johnjay and Rich are going to ruin Channel 933. If Channel 933 is pulling in good PPM ratings, why not go with something local? Is CC really THAT cash strapped?

Rich blantly said he STOLE the WRONG sound fom dsc...Rich barra,at least he tossed the DSC some National props!!!!!
 
I continue to be much, much unhappy with the presence of this show in San Diego. I needed to voice my opinion and this is as a good a forum as any. Thank you.
