JohnJay's Big Mouth Gets Him In Trouble

PHOENIX -- Popular radio personality Johnjay Van Es says he feel's like Harrison Ford from the movie "The Fugitive" right now.

Sorry. That must be why I can't be a web content editor. :D

Johnjay is trying to be a rebel. A lot of these people think they don't have to pay a fine for breaking the law, but it's not uncommon for those ignoring speed camera tickets to get a rude awakening of discovering their license is suspended. Nine instances? Give me a break and pay up!

Kind of funny that Scottsdale Police tweeted him.

Scottsdale judges have a habit of allowing alternate service (posting the summons and complaint to your residence) in cases like these. You can run, but you can't hide!!

Something that is noteworthy--and perhaps JohnJay is merely seeking publicity for himself and the show--but the AZ Supreme Court's web site only shows 5 cases, with only 1 being active. Here is the link- http://apps.supremecourt.az.gov/publicaccess/caselookup.aspx (Just search on his name and you will see the information).

It is possible that the web site is not up-to-date, or JohnJay is making this bigger than it really is. I wonder if any of the media outlets will do a follow-up.

Speaking of Speed Camera's, I think it's silly if people decide to vote them out so we can go away from VERY OBVIOUS and WELL ESTABLISHED, ADVERTISED cameras (with advanced warning) to the cops sneaking up behind you out of no where and pulling up behind you.

Yes, I may have a spotless driving record, but THAT IS NOT THE POINT. I'm talking about people using common sense to their advantage, whether or not it benefits me personally. With the cameras up, at least every person getting ticketed and giving money to the city is CHOOSING to do so, because I cannot understand how anyone could mistakenly get caught (in addition to getting upset afterwards) by a camera they ALREADY KNOW EXISTS! You know where the cameras are. However, you don't know where the police are, and since we live in a society where people don't like police (yet they are the FIRST ones to call and depend on them when they need help), wouldn't it only make sense to just keep the stationary set cameras - that you ALREADY KNOW exists?

Think about it...

Now I'm not exactly sure whether or not the vote has already been taken or exactly when the contract ends this year for the company who owns those cameras, but I sure hope that whatever people decide, they don't superficially vote based on what looks and feels good without thinking, then get upset when they get the results they voted for. Who knows who might decide to purchase and utilize those camera's if the current company running them gets voted out..

The camera's are very well established and you know where they are.
The police are not.
THINK ABOUT IT.

Just thought I'd bring it up while it was at least still somewhat related to a new post in the Phoenix section.

By the way, my previous post about the speed camera's and thinking + using common sense before voting on them is exactly that - a post about speed camera's, thinking, and using common sense before forming an opinion on them and acting on it. It is nothing towards or against Johnjay & Rich, and I have not listened to or followed the story enough to form a legitimate opinion on the Johnjay incident itself.

While I may have opinions on the speed camera's and people's reactions towards them, I have nothing against Johnjay when it comes specifically in regard to using the situation in a joking way for his COMEDY morning show entertainment. After all, he has a job to do, and has realized that he cannot go back into the past and fix what happened, but he can at least use it as a benefit towards what he does to make a living. I commend him for keeping his composure and keeping it "professional", just as much as I commend Conan O'Brien for keeping his composure and professionalism during the entire NBC situation, while still using his own show to release and discuss his frustrations. I doubt that in both cases, anyone is really happy about their situations, but they are both sensibly using their current situations as an advantage to their shows and ratings.

I wouldn't recommend ignoring a ticket, but if the city themselves are so irresponsible that a rumor about ignoring them goes around and not much is done to contradict the rumor about not having to pay them, you cannot really blame people for not paying them. After all, this is supposed to be a form of punishment. People have been mentally wired to dislike and try to avoid punishment. Therefore, if you do not crack down on the punishment, of course people will always take the route necessary to avoid (or receive the least amount of) the punishment in most cases, whenever possible.

Anyway, that's just my thought's on how I feel's.  8)

Just a quick note on the notices sent out for alleged photo enforcement citations. The letters sent out by DPS and other law-enforcement agencies are simply notices of violation and not valid citations. These notices do not become valid citations until the recipient waives their right to personal service by responding to the notice of violation, or is served by a sworn officer or a licensed process server.

JohnJay can try to avoid process servers if that is what he chooses to do, assuming he truly has 9 pending photo enforcement cases. Given what I have seen, I have to wonder if he isn't just drumming up publicity for himself and his morning show.

Wasnt the whole loop hole regarding photo cameras that the city couldnt prove you received the citation and therefore couldnt hold you liable? What an idiot.
