Johnny Angel was on with Howie...

Johnny Angel was Howie's guest for a brief time on Fri. Was with local bands City Thrills and also
Swingin' Erudites IIRC (the latter band did memorable spoofs of Walk with an Egyptian, Theme from
NY NY, some Bon Jovi tunes, etc.)
As was pointed out on this own little messageboard that I do, he sounded pretty good. Does
talk show in LA these days. Was noted by the person posting on my board that he was 'to the left
of anyone on Boston talk radio these days' so the prog talk fans might enjoy.

Joe Vig, you can step in now...

Yup! Swinging E's were a funny band. They did a version of "Yesterday" on the "Mr Beautiful Presents All
Hard" compilation (it swung from Irish to punk to bluegrass); "Livin' on My Hair" spoofed NJ's Bon Jovi (in a spoken word part of the song: "I'm bigger than Springsteen! Or Sinatra! Or Secaucus! They're gonna name a rest stop on the turnpike after me!")

How perfect--a left wing loudmouth and a right wing loudmouth on at the same time.

Two misinformed peas in a pod.

I heard those segments and they were brilliant - [EDIT]

[EDIT-inflammatory content]

Right wing or left wing, they're blowhards in love with the sound of their own voices--give me informed talk anyday.

If Angel is so great, why isn't he full time anywhere and if Howie is so great, why'd they basically dare him to leave?

So show me a radio host who's not in love with their own voice. And Johnny Angel fills in on Fox for the Alan Colmes show - nothing to sneeze at in my book.

La-De-Dah----Angel is on Fox Network as a fill-in, Carr as a sometime guest. Big whoop-tee-do.

You don't seem to realize that ''sensationalistic" isn't sensational--no, the thing is, these shock jock guys are yesterday's news regardless of which side they're on.

Says who? What you don't seem to realize is that talk radio is here to stay, pal. I don't think they're shock jocks--I think you'd be happy if they were boring NPR professor types talking about the deficit--you have terminal fuddy-duddy-itis

No, you don't seem to realize that reading police blotters or playing "chump" calls or touting the sexual heaven that is "Boston Catholic girls" (as Angel did on the Stephanie Miller Show, notice how he hasn't been back since?) is goofy and LCD-appealing.

It's all a joke to you, isn't it?

Lighten up. For someone who's disenchanted with talk radio, you sure seem to know a lot about the shock jocks. What are you, working on your college dissertation or something?

What do you want, blood?

Let Howie jump to FM and become a one-man Opie and Anthony, let Angel stay in LA and become the bum he plays in that commercial.

It's all for nothing anyway.

It's all a big nothing. What makes you think you're so special?

Howie will reach a wider audience and Johnny is on the verge of something big - you mark my words.

Shall we to the audience?

I prefer to be informed and entertained in that order.

The only thing I ever learned from those two "broadcasters" (they're really a pair of hack columnists that got undeserved promotions) is that regular Advil isn't strong enough to cure the headaches they bring on.
