RUMOR THAT WSTW HAS BEN TALKING TO JOHNNY B ABOUT A RETURN..ANY BODY KNOW ANYTHING?
 
With John Wilson out, it would make things a little easier. That said, Johnny seems to be comfortable at
KLAK in his PD/Morning Show position.

I'll say this: *If* B were to come back, it would be a huge shot in the arm for WSTW. He's
a humble guy who knows how to connect to his audience, and as such, gets the rock star
treatment from the audience and his fellow staffers. I can imagine the ad campaign that WSTW
would launch with a Johnny B return.
 
Johnny B would be nuts to come back to Delmarva and WSTW. Come back to WJBR maybe, but not WSTW. Word from inside the dbc "compound" is the place is worse then the basement of 6 feet under on a happy day. The top brass at WSTW will continue to play a !!!!ed up blend of semi-hot AC, top 40, R & B, Country and easy listening, all let by a screaming maniac. I would not be surprised to see them at number 3 in the market behind WDAS in the next year (they deserve it) I am sure B talks to Jill and she has passed along the stories. All indications are she went through hell. I am happy she got to move across the street and keep doing what she does so well.

Why would B want to go back to a place he left becuase he was under valued by a management that thought John Wilson still had value?..the same management that was stupid enough to let Jill go the competition
 
Bankman says it best and it all starts at the top and runs downhill. WSTW is a sinking ship and the new captain will sink with it.
 
I sent Johnny B an email at his KLAK email asking him this question...his responce was LOL
 
I thought it was the NEW managment at WSTW that finally made the move with Wilson. For years I'd heard comments that no one at WSTW was getting along with him and he was part of the reason why B left and Jill was so unhappy. When did B leave? was it '05 or '06? Anyway it was before Wilson was cut loose so maybe that's why the rumor is out there that he'd come back? And what would he do at WJBR? Would they drop Michael Waite and pair him up with Jill again? Or dump their afternoon guy?

For having so few stations, there's a hell of a lot going on in this town right now. Yikes.
 
B left in December of 2005. I can't speak for B and Wilson's relationship, but Wilson was a dividing factor, no doubt about it. There are those who liked him, and those who loathed him. I didn't have a lot of dealings with him, but those who did were either one or the other. There was really no gray area.

One of the big reasons that B was rumored to return was that KLAK is a NextMedia station, which WJBR was at the time. Some tossed the idea around that once B's non-compete burned out in DE, he'd be brought back into Wilmington at WJBR. I think we can see that THAT isn't happening. As far as the "B at WJBR" rumor, there's no way Michael Waite is gonna throw HIMSELF on the sword at WJBR. I think Mike does a good job as it is over there.

Unless WSTW wants to suck it up and bring B back, he's gonna stay in Texas. All the best to him.
 
If WSTW was smart..meaning let's start a new trend..they would throw bucks a 'B' to come back and team him up with Nancy Johnson..because Dana can't carry her and Nancy will be a two word ha ha machine..move Dana back to afternoons and A Game back to nights..that would give WSTW a nice well rounded sound..IF WJBR was even smarter..they would bring back B team him up with Jill..move Mike to afternoons and have such a great team they would crush WSTW
 
Alright, for those of us observing from out of the market, can someone kind of sum up the situation? Have things gotten better/worse/no change with the new pd? This has been an intriguing station to me for quite some time.
