Johnny D on FREE FM

I would like to say that Johnny D on 97.1 Free FM is a breath of fresh air for Detriot Radio.
His subject matter is very topical and keeps listeners engaged.
His irreverent humor is quite need in this town babe.

Johny (yes he spells it with one N) has a studio in his home in Perrysburg, from what I understand. He did afternoons at Kiss FM Toledo for many years, then took over mornings when Denny Schaffer moved over to WSPD. Then jumped to WTWR. He has deep roots in Toledo and I doubt anyone will get him to move without deep pockets. And, as we know, there are no deep pockets in corporate radio anymore. 97.1 is fortunate to have him.

KRK is fortunate to have Johny? KRK is fortunate to have anything at this point. Johny is fortunate to have anything at this point, too. He ran himself out of Toledo radio. It's probably a good thing he isn't doing the show from the 97.1 studios... he'd probably run himself out of Detroit, too.

Johny D is the one that got me in to the radio biz back in the day. I haven't spoken to him in years. I wish him continued success and hope he kicks ass in Detroit!

Free FM has a great daytime lineup in Detroit, JohnnyD (he spells it with two Ns on the air) is one of the best shows IMO.

In a sea of lame 'laughing at themselves too much' morning radio here in Detroit - O&A stand out as well.

He'll probably do well in Detroit since Michigan has a little grough-tough additude for his sense of humor. I remember when they ran him out of Cleveland for being too "risquee". 92.3 I believe.

Johny wasn't "run out of Cleveland". He bailed for KISS-FM/Toledo. And, he was under contract at the time. WZJM (Zapis) finally let him go. Poor business on Johny's part.
