I heard that Johnny Dark, who used to work at the old 66 WNBC in New York now works at WKIS-FM. Does he do PM Drive? I would like to listen to him online...

Thanks

YES - He is an on-air DJ here in Miami at 99.9-KISS-COUNTRY. If you go to their official web site at http://www.wkis.com you can read his profile. It doesn't identify his on-air time slot though.

This particular 'Johnny Dark' should not be confused with the 'Johnny Dark' that is a popular recurring character on "The Late Show With David Letterman".

THE MAJOR

... nor should he be confused with the 'Johnny Dark' of yore from WCAO in Baltimore.

Miami's Johnny was the PM drive talent for many years at WFLC ... and had held posts at WNBC New York and WRKO Boston, I believe. I think he also logged some time in South Florida in the early 70s at WMYQ -- the predecessor to '96X' and today's 'Power 96'.

He's now a weekend personality -- and the primary swing-shift guy -- at WKIS.

[Baltimore's] Johnny Dark

WOW ! Would you believe that I actually (faintly) remember 'Johnny Dark' from '600-WCAO' ? Along with 'WWDC-AM-1260' they were the two main TOP 40 stations that I used to listen to over 30 years ago when I was a kid living in the Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. Those two stations and their memorable personalities introduced me to the wonderful world of TOP 40 music. It was so much fun that I still remember them here in 2006 !

If I'm not mistaken Johnny Dark stayed with 600-WCAO until (I believe) the early-1980s ?

THE MAJOR REMEMBERS ...

The Baltimore 'Johnny Dark' was PD, I think, and remained with WCAO well into its flip to country in the 80s (and may have been with the station until it became gospel 'Heaven 600'). He later surfaced at Oldies WBIG-FM in D.C. (which has since been flipped to Classic Hits).

Some of us also remember Johnny Dark from his days at WSRF 1580 in Fort Lauderdale. Broward's own top 40 AM station.
