It's good to know that despite the massive cuts in today's radio climate, and Citadel literally letting AM stations suffer a Terry Schiavo-esque death (see: Northeast Pennsylvania board - WARM), Johnny Donovan is still with the company, as heard doing commercials for WABC, as well as sister station 1050 ESPN.
My question is - because it is, after all, the radio business where anyone is expendable - if Citadel ever lets Johnny go - and of course, I hope that it does not, as I never look forward to seeing anyone in that position - would he still be able to work for Rush Limbaugh, whose show he also graces with his voice talent? Rush is syndicated by Clear Channel, but could WABC issue some sort of "non-compete" preventing him from working directly with the show as, say, an independent contractor? And besides, isn't Rush planning on "leaving" New York soon, anyway? I just know it would be weird hearing him on Rush and not in the other usual places.
And before anyone asks... no, I do not have any information at all, just curious. Johnny is such a talented person with a vaunted resume that he should be able to retire on his own terms.
