Johnny K

It's been reported that Johnny K has passed away at the age of 77 from cancer. I did not know him..but I'm sure a lot of you folks did...thought I would pass it along..

Johnny K was a wonderful man and one of the nicest people you would ever meet. I learned so much about country music from him.

Worked with Johnny at two places on the dial, three if you include within same cluster. NEVER got upset, never melt down or a cross word with anyone. Always positive, professional and a pleasure to work with. His passing is indeed a loss; prayers and condolences to his family!

Best regards,

w/

On a tangent, anyone remember the Johnny K on WKDA-am in the 60s?

I attended Johnny K's memorial service. (Promoter, artist, manager) Marty Martel did a nice recap of his career and his influence on Marty's own career. Charlie Dick (Patsy Cline's husband), Gene Kennedy (recording artist and Door Knob Records President) and Chuck Chellman (founder of the Country Music Radio and DJ Hall of Fame) were among the industry folk who attended.
