What was going on with him??? He said that Tejano fans should give up hope of having a Tejano station on fm. That we should be happy for at least having it on hd. What kind of person is he, he promotes Tejano but he also downgrades it ::).

Dude thats not the point, the point is why would somebody talk bad about a format of music that the station were he works for is playing?? Its like if the Mexicans talked bad about hip-hop , and they work for party 104.9.

If you like this type of music find a internet station you can listen to there bound to be a few out there this form for radio will never come back so look elese where

Maybe he's just being realistic rather than talking bad about Tejano. Tejano is an older-skewing product with very little in way of new music, and it has very little appeal outside of Texas. There are less than 40 Tejano stations nationwide, and you can count the number on one hand that are outside of Texas.

If you look at it realistically, he was just giving an honest critique of the state of the format. There isn't much new Tejano music, and the niche, which is too small, is getting less advertiser-friendly each day. If he was asked about the chances of getting a Tejano station on FM, what else could he have said without lying?

Didn't some people here already told you Tejano is dead?
It's a lost cause. Just let it die.

Señor TexMex,

I honestly feel you on the love for Tejano thing bro. I love it too. But I also realize that I am in the minority. I really give props to Univision for keeping it alive in Houston as long as they have. I think S.A. is pretty safe as far as KXTN is concerned, but I can't imagine that 980 is a big biller here. I mean if they break even I think that would be a huge accomplishment. If you listen to the station there really isn't a whole lot there as far as spots go. I think they keep it on there because there isn't really anything viable to replace it with. I guarantee that if there was another format that they could make money with on that AM signal, Tejano would be gone. Then you'd probably be forced to listen to a simulcast of KXTN on the 104.9 HD2 stream.

Don't fight reality brother, its 2007 and unfortunately Tejano is 10+ years past its peak as a format (with the death of Selena). Just enjoy the rest of the ride until it runs out of gas...
